Its worst crime (among many) is that it is really, really boring.

Did you find the first boring though? Tell me Dornan is full-frontal in this one :P. Considering the audience for the film I thought it was disappointing he wasn't in the first yet Dakota was.

Never saw the first because it did not screen for critics. I would not watch this unless I had to write it.

There is no full-frontal. I mean, of course there isn't. There is a gratuitous workout scene with a shirtless Dornan that serves only one purpose.

I really liked it. Prefer the first slightly but thought this was fun too.

This was a little disappointing as I was a fan of the first one. I think one of the things better in this one than the first is the chemistry between Johnson and Dornan. It's certainly watchable but it doesn't really have a tight narrative flow, maybe they should've have stuck with the original team of the first film although the film looks great and is shot fine.

I think Dakota Johnson is great but Anastasia isn't really given much of a character arc, as what her character is going through was what made the first one more interesting.

Post Re: Fifty Shades Darker
Holy fuck was this embarrassing. I wasn't a big fan of Fifty Shades of Grey by any means (I think I gave it a C or a C+) but that one is significantly better than this one. I'm not going to waste my time in talking about how awful the dialogue is or how terrible the performances are because, duh, they're really bad. Every time Fifty Shades comes up in a conversation, I get really annoyed. I still am in shock that there are women in love with this franchise and will say stuff like "I want a Christian!" He's insufferable and Anastasia is an immature, awful cunt. They are literally two of the worst characters I've seen in a book or a film ever. They're horrible. Add in the fact that literally nothing happens in this movie until the final ten minutes. Literally. Nothing. It's so fucking boring. Once it mildly picks up, it ends with a promise that THE THIRD WILL BE BIGGER AND BETTER! and yet I'm sure it will be more of the same. Also, the sex scenes in this film were hilariously bad. They weren't erotic and they were even more tame than the first one. Pathetic. The makers of these films really need to watch something like Unfaithful to see how a real erotic thriller is done. Instead, it looks more like a Cinemax movie that is on at 3AM or Basic Instinct 2.

But honestly, that being said, I guess the movie is kind of watchable? I was bored but I wasn't ready to walk out or anything, though honestly the majority of the time I was talking to myself about how horrible these people are but still. Just bad, bad, bad. I'm glad we only have one more movie to suffer through.

D

SPOILERS...

Her saying yes to marry this fucking awful man? GOD, SHE IS SUCH A FUCKING STUPID CUNT.

Fifty Shades Darker is not soft core porn. There is literally barely any sex in it.

Isn't that the difference between hard and soft core? How much there is?

I'm not well versed in porn, sorry.

Fifty Shades Darker retains the comic underspin of its predecessor, but unfortunately neuters poor billionaire Christian Grey. Without the whiff of the unknown, the humor's edge is not nearly as sharp. While this middle film is a pleasant enough domestic interlude, its arch psychogical drama just doesn't turn crazy enough (avenging book editor?). What does still work are the two leads - Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan look funny! (I could see Aubrey Plaza and Adam DeVine playing the roles just as well.) A couple of goofy nerds in evening wear and bondage gear. Some fun. *B*

(Note: I haven't read the novels and watched the first film once on initial theatrical release. Also, don't miss the after credits scene.)

What's the after credits scene?

Midcredits was a 15 second Fifty Shades Freed teaser, don't think there was anything after that.

Way to generalize. It's a romance that has some sexual content. The romance aspect is what the majority of fans like about it. It just happens to have a little light kink added in.

The title Fifty Shades Freed sounds so shit. Did James just do it because it sounds like "three"? So cheesy. It would be better if it were just Fifty Shades Forever, as it's the final one.

I'm certainly not defending this series and especially this movie but zwack, you literally have no idea what the fuck you're talking about. There is maybe five minutes of sex in this movie and it's incredibly generic, not erotic or graphic in the slightest. It's almost embarrassing how tame it was, even compared to the first one. This is not soft core porn, it's just a poorly made film.

Also, I call complete bullshit on most people "enjoying this series due to the romantic aspect." What romantic aspect? These characters are not romantic in the slightest. Christian is creepy and it's literally Twilight with some sex scenes added, just even worse written, if you can imagine that. People enjoy the series because they can live out their sex fantasies through these characters (at least in the book anyway). The characters here are downright embarrassing, Anastasia is one of the worst characters written and I have no idea how a woman couldn't be offended by her, I certainly was. She's absolutely awful and Christian is a fucking wack job creeper. There is no romanticism in this series. At all.

I know I sound like a hater but I did "enjoy" the first film enough. It was a well shot movie, the soundtrack was great and it had a few really good scenes (especially the last Red Room scene) but this movie was fucking shit.
