 Jackie Brown
Jackie Brown Quote: Jackie Brown is a 1997 American crime drama film written and directed by Quentin Tarantino. It is an adaptation of the novel Rum Punch by American novelist Elmore Leonard and pays homage to 1970s blaxploitation films.
The film stars Pam Grier, Robert Forster, Robert De Niro, Samuel L. Jackson, Bridget Fonda and Michael Keaton. It was Tarantino's third film following his successes with Reservoir Dogs (1992) and Pulp Fiction (1994).
Grier and Forster were both veteran actors but neither had performed a leading role in many years. Jackie Brown revitalized both actors' careers. The film garnered Forster an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor, and Jackson and Grier were nominated for Golden Globe Awards.

Tarantino's best, tied with Kill Bill. Great cast, great performances, good story and great dialogues.

Jackie Brown is on my top 10 list of my favorite movies. Even at a 150 minute running length, the movie moves along briskly. Brown also contains one of the best soundtracks I have ever heard. I simply love this movie.

Very underrated film, I'd say it's Tarantino's 3rd best movie. Pam Grier, Sam Jackson and Robert Forster are all fantastic, the rest of the cast is great as well. (mainly DeNiro and Fonda) The dialogue is excellent and this is a film that you just need to rewatch to fully love it. The first time I watched this, I was really underwhelmed but a rewatch and I fell in love with it, it's a fantastic character study.

Jackie Brown - B+
It is very under-rated. De Niro is genious. Samuel isnt. Bridget is good and Pam Grier is really good.

Very underrated, indeed. I like it more than Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs. Samuel L. Jackson's best role, Grier, Fonda and De Niro rock and the dialogues are amazing.

Boring. The worst Tarantino movie I have seen so far. He didn't invest too much in his characters and just wants to be too cool in his direction. (C+)

Not as good as Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill (Vol.1+ Vol 2.), definetly better than Resivior Dogs. There are times when it seems like Pulp Fiction 2, but Tarintino is able to regain control and make a great 70's plotation film.

I thought it was good, but the worst Tarantino movie by far. I didn't start really getting into it until about 2 hours in, when Deniro shot Bridget Fonda. Still a solid B+, but it can't compare to the other Tarantino flicks, which all got A's from me.
Anyone notice Tarantino's cameo as the monotone voice on Jackie's answering machine?

I rewatched it with friends recently and finally came to the decision that Kill Bill (as one movie) prevails over this one for my favorite Tarantino-directed movie. However, this one is not too far behind. All scenes with Jackson and De Niro as well as with De Niro and Fonda are excellent.

Underrated indeed!
It was very stylish in typical Tarantino fashion, but unlike his other movies, wasn't very indulgent. I thought Pam Grier was perfect as Jackie Brown -- understated yet fierce! -- and the supporting crew was great all around. It's probably the one T movie that'll be overlooked by most people, but it definitely shouldn't.

Although I think we can all agree that the screenplay for Pulp Fiction is brilliant, I believe this is Tarantino's most complete and enjoyable film, although Kill Bill comes in an extremely close second. I love films with double crossers, and I think this is the best in that genre. And for a film that's just over 150 minutes, it moves very quickly and never feels tedious.

I'm in the "Jackie Brown in QT's best" camp.
Unfortunately, it was the movie's commerical failure and lukewarm critical response that prompted Quentin Tarantino to disappear entirely up his own asshole. And that's where we're at right now.

Pam Grier = Goddess
It's unfortunate she never made much of a comeback with Jackie Brown because I would have enjoyed to see her in other movies. Maybe she wanted it that way, though.

It's too long, and doesn't really pick up until the mall stuff starts, but it's very entertaining and a lot of fun to figure out. The non-linear storyline works wonders with the money sequence. Grier and Forster are great, and Keaton is at his best, while Jackson is mediocre and De Niro is pretty unremarkable. I didn't like the ending though, it seemed to rely too much on Jackson's stupidity to work. Fantastic dialogue and superb direction, as expected, but it's definitely not as good as QT's first two.

As much fun as I had with Death Proof, he really does need to grow up a bit.

Loved it. At the beginning it felt a bit shaky, but once the plot picked up and Jackie came in, it turned into quite the awesome twisting crime film.
QT's screenplay is of course perfect, but I also think this may be his most well-acted film. Grier, Fonda, Forster, Keaton are all great, but Jackson and De Niro prevail even more over them. I think this may be one of Jackson's best performances ever, there's none of the loveable cussing Jackson that we're used to, instead Ordell is played completley cold and pure evil... and it works beautifully. Right up there with his Pulp Fiction work, he really needs to get working with QT again.
De Niro's performance is just the funniest thing in the film, I would've never dreamed he could be so excellent as a stoner loser/screw-up at crime. When he starts to sweat and snap at the end, again it's some of the best nervous angry work I've seen from someone, he seemed almost real. The conversations between him and Fonda are just hilarious.
I think QT might be in my top 5 directors all-time now, he's just too good. Too good.

I still remember sitting down in the theatre expecting to be blown away after absolutely loving Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction, only to have this horrible wave of disappointment called Jackie Brown wash over me...

Bump, I saw parts of this film, but it seemed flat. I like my Tarantino with pizzazz. Does anyone out there recommend I give this film a second shot?
