SO stupid but once you get past that it's hilarious and oddly kind of sweet. It thrives because of the actors who elevate the material and it perfectly satirizes certain rom-coms. The cast is also amazing. It's a who's-who of people I love. B+

Re: They Came Together
I wasn't impressed at all. It was a better made version of something like Date Movie with better actors. There were a few humorous scenes but I really hated Amy Poehler here (and I adore her), she was really annoying. It was an easy movie to sit through but certainly wasn't any good.

A love story loosely binds together a long episode of The State. Which means it was fantastic! So very stupid yet so very funny.

Re: They Came Together
I laughed. Quite a bit too, actually. Once you get past the first 20 minutes, (when the movie starts in on the "Airplane" like gags...see the post above mine) the movie is very funny. But the attempt at satire here is lazy at best. Something like Wet Hot American Summer worked because while it ripped summer camp movies a new one, it still managed to be a decent summer camp movie. That movie has a heart to it. They Came Together just rips romantic comedies a new one. It doesn't try to add anything. And since the genre should be so easy to lampoon, the fact that they just go after the most obvious tropes makes it shockingly lazy. Showalter and Wain are capable of much better (The Baxter). As a comedy - AAs satire - FMovie - ( C)

It's funny and everyone seems to have a great time, I'm just not sure the enjoyment value can be maintained when watching it again.
