melodrama as mystery, or vice versa

Brilliant film. Better than A Separation.

I really really want to see this one. I liked A Separation A LOT.

The second half is such a drag. Once the focus moves away from Ahmad and Lucile, I became so disinterested. The way the film keeps shifting focus is ingenious. The cast is wonderful, especially the daughter, who is even better than Bejo. It is an immensely complex film. I liked that about it more than A Separation.

 Re: Le Passé [The Past]
a separation is more complex in a less obvious way

 Re: Le Passé [The Past]
I'll have to agree with Magnus on this one. The second half did start to drag here or there and I wasn't as invested in the story anymore. The acting is wonderful from everyone involved and it's a competently (?) directed movie but it's not on the same level as A Separation was. Loved the last scene, though.
