Quote:
Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters is an 2013 American fantasy-adventure film based on the Rick Riordan novel of the same name. It is a sequel to the 2010 film Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief and continues the adventures of Percy Jackson (Logan Lerman) and his friends, as they search for the Golden Fleece at the titular Sea of Monsters to save an ailing magical tree that protects their home from foes. The film was released on August 7, 2013, and was converted to 3D in post-production.

C+

Entertaining enough, but will be forgotten within weeks after seeing it. I don't remenmber much about the first either, but I remember the feeling of generally liking it more. Though on paper the budget fdoesn't look much smaller, the whole film looks much cheaper and smaller in scope. The 3D is worthless, but I liked some of the setpieces and the cast is charming.

It was decent. I definitely prefer the first.

I love the mythology it's based on, so it's hard for me not to enjoy it on some level. However, the whole movie just felt like it was so telegraphed. And the annoying chick's sudden turnaround really annoyed me. What the film really lacked though was emotional punch. The end of the first on Mount Olympus provided that for the first film. This didn't have any moments like that for me.

B-

(I'd give the first a B+)

I enjoyed it a little less than the first as well.

Both movies jump from scene to scene too fast, so if they're going to continue with the other books, they should work on the pacing.

Lightning Thief - B
Sea of Monsters - B-

PERCY JACKSON SEA OF MONSTERS

Oh, caught this today and I was disappointed in it. I thought it might be fun and interesting but it felt just too cartoony to me. I haven't seen the first one since it came out but I found that one to be decent enough to have me somewhat interested in this. Lerman felt very blah in the role this time around. It felt like he was half in it. I didn't like the Ares daughter toon. She was annoying. The cyclop half brother was annoying just because of the dang eye. Didn't like that either though his toon was somewhat okay. The whole confederate soldiers business was unnecessary. Why were the confederates anyway? The bit with the power of the golden fleece was over the top. That Kronos was terrible. I'm gonna rewatch Wrath of the Titans just to enjoy that version of Kronos instead. Unfortunately, this didn't match the interest I had for the first and it's box office suggests this will be the last in this series.

Grade - C

I thought this one felt way more childish than the first but since I hadn't seen that in so long I was unsure if I just wasn't remembering it correctly.

Weird. I really hated the first one and while this one isn't good I didn't completely hate it.

Absolute shit. The worst movie I've ever seen ever except possibly its predecessor which is just as bad. I can't decide which one I hate more cuz they're both such utter crap. It's clear that the screenwriters directors at cetera did not give a crap about the movie I'm just at just wanted to make a quick buck. An absolute disgrace absolute disgrace to Hollywood.
