The Tall Man
The Tall ManQuote: The Tall Man is a 2012 Canadian and French mystery-thriller film written and directed by Pascal Laugier. It was filmed in the Kootenay region of Southeastern British Columbia and stars Jessica Biel. The film is set in a small former mining town where poverty is rife and children are disappearing on a regular basis. The abductions are blamed on a local legend called "the Tall Man." Jessica Biel plays the widow of the town doctor who continues his work and whose own son disappears, leading her to seek out the mystery of the Tall Man.

The Tall Man
It's an ok film, but really nothing special. The idea behind the movie is more likeable than anything in the movie itself, which was pretty much a waste of my time. There's one good shot in the movie and it's a drawing of the supposed "Tall Man". Jessica Biel tried her best, bless her, but she's just not interesting enough to draw you in.
The twist isn't great, and the movie isn't scary at all (not sure if it's meant to be), so there's not much left really besides the idea. It's good Sunday afternoon fun, I suppose.

Re: The Tall Man
It's decently scary, with a wicked twist (albeit one cribbed from a certain Ben Affleck film from a few years ago), but there's really nothing exceptional about it, for better or worse. Certainly not as provocative or memorable as Laugier's previous Martyrs.
At least Biel looks good.

At least Biel looks good. And THAT bothered me a lot. But on the other hand, I thought Biel has never been this good before.

Re: The Tall Man
Yeah the end twist was a bit too much Gone, Baby, Gone but it still caught me by surprise. I thought it was a pretty good, tense little thriller and Jessica Biel really impressed me this time. It was suspenseful from start to finish and kept me guessing till the end, which doesn't happen too often anymore. And it was nice to see William B. Davis is still alive.

Re: The Tall Man
I thought it was a pretty solid film. Different than expected, which is a good thing.
