Quote:
Home Alone is a 1990 American Christmas comedy film written and produced by John Hughes and directed by Chris Columbus. The film stars Macaulay Culkin as Kevin McCallister, an eight-year-old boy, who is mistakenly left behind when his family flies to Paris for their Christmas vacation. While initially relishing time by himself, he is later greeted by two would-be burglars played by Daniel Stern and Joe Pesci. Kevin eventually manages to outwit them with a series of booby traps. The film also features Catherine O'Hara, John Heard, Devin Ratray and Roberts Blossom. Immediately and consistently popular, Home Alone remains the highest grossing live-action comedy of all time.

Macaulay Culkin was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor - Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for his performance as Kevin McCallister, becoming the youngest actor ever to be nominated for the award at the age of 11. The film was also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Score.

One of my childhood favorites. Funny, entertaining, and the perfect holiday movie. A-

Underrated and not respected enough. But it grossed $285 million? Damn! I knew it was popular but I didn't know it was so dominant.

This movie (and its sequel) are probably two of my guilty pleasures. They're not that good, certainly, but they do crack me up.

I feel guilty that i still enjoy seeing this when its on. Slapstick brilliance, althou the cheesy family bits are as bad as ever.

One of my favorite childhood movies. Looking back, it's not an amazing movie, but it'll always be one of my favorites.

I don't laugh as much as I once did, but it's still quite enjoyable.

I think I've watched this every year around Christmas time. For whatever reason, it just gets me in the Yuletide mood. It's pretty silly, but loads of fun and the climax always entertains. Another guilty pleasure.

Forget my earlier comment about this movie. It's silly but it actually is really well-made. Major childhood favorite, I'm watching it right now. Still love it, a perfect Christmas movie.

Also besides the funny parts talked about above, there is a great cast and there are some nice moments with John Candy and the old guy neighbor.

and a great pairing with Trains, Plains and Automobiles.

Whats with this guilty pleasure talk. Home Alone is the shit I mean...

Buzz, can I sleep in your room tonight?
Listen, I wouldn't let you sleep in my room, if you were growing, on my ass!

I'll probably watch it a handle full more times before New Years. It's the only holiday movie I can watch after Christmas.
