Wanderlust is a 2012 comedy film directed by David Wain, starring Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd, as a married couple who try to escape modern society by finding themselves on a commune in Georgia, after the economy crashes down on their dreams in New York.

Wanderlust never really wanders off enough to inspire much lust.

After a great set-up, blast-off, and a promising second stage, this spacecraft glides back to Earth unclimacticly, and lands rather unceremoniously.

The two leads and the great supporting weirdos add plenty of rocket fuel to this promising dud, but it sputters nonetheless.

Had it traced it's original trajectory it coulda been a contenda!

3 out of 5.

An amusing comedy with plenty of hilarious moments and likable performances from Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston. Not extremely memorable but a satisfactory experience on the whole. B

The first third is good, and the last third is decent, but the second act pretty damn near kills this movie. At that point Wanderlust just stops being funny and character motivation just goes to shit. I don't buy that Aniston's character would be so quick to buy the whole "free love" spiel that Rudd tries to pull over on her. The only reason it's in there is so that there is some sort of tension in the third act, but this movie didn't need any of that. And considering it was written by David Wain and Ken Marino, I expected more from them. And unlike Role Models, Wanderlust feels like it's meandering around a point that it never firmly lands on. Is the commune something to be taken seriously or is it just a big joke full of one-note characters? In Role Models the two main characters were forced to grow up. In Wanderlust, I'm not sure if the two main characters actually learn anything. I don't think I would've minded so much if the film were a just a tiny bit funnier in the middle. Instead it mostly winds up being forgettable outside of Joe Lo Truglio, Ken Marino, Justin Theroux (though he wears out his welcome well before the end) and
Spoiler: show
Ray Liotta
who has the biggest "what the fuck?" laugh in the entire movie.

I thought this was pretty bad. It has some laughs here and there but way too many of the jokes fall completely flat and the movie can be a bit obnoxious. I really expected this to be better.

Despite the film just being ok, Paul Rudd in front of the mirror and the sex talk is probably the funniest thing of the year

See, I thought that was just annoying. It goes on for far too long.

I never heard a theater laugh as long and as hard, and there only maybe 30 people in it when I saw it.

Funny but formulaic. I agree it's not nearly as mature or genuine as Role Models, and the ending wraps things up a little too nicely. But it's amusing nonetheless.

I dunno, I thought it was pretty hysterical. The cast works great together and there were plenty of times I was seriously laughing out loud, and that rarely happens.

8/10

Really outside of the mirror scene and a couple random lines, this was really horrible.
