It wouldn't have been much of a long shot to bet that this was going to be bad heading in. What I wouldn't have bet on though is how fucking boring this movie is. Neveldine/Taylor bring a nice visual flair to the movie, which was to be expected considering their other films, but the movie only has two major action sequences and they're both pretty fucking dull. One involves Ghost Rider working construction machinery while the other is a car chase. That's it? I know the budget was cut down to $75 million, but with the second rate cast and the action, I'm starting to wonder if most of that went into Cage's bank account, because it sure as shit ain't on screen. And speaking of Cage, this movie somehow makes him boring too. He's got a couple of lines where he gets to freak out, but anyone expecting "classic Cage" is going to walk out disappointed.

The first is a masterpiece compared to this.

Better than Thor and Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol.

I do wish it was rated R, though. Stupid cop out on Sony's part. The vibe is so sleazy and offensive and grotesque and lurid-awesome. It screams out for blood and guts rather than every victim turning into a Blade style heap of ash. And for Violante Placido (Clooney's prostitute squeeze in The American) to get those gorgeous tits out again.

Maybe that's the cut that David has seen...

Not really. It makes perfect business sense to make this a PG-13. This movie has to challenge a huge backlash from the first, a not very liked character, and directors and a star that aren't very desireable of late. Lower to a PG-13 to broaden the audience and lessen the ambiguity.

I'm not always in favour of PG-13 action movies that should honestly be an R, but in this case, it makes sense.

Yeah, it was definitely smart. Though I do think they should have filmed a darker cut to release on DVD/Blu-ray in addition to the PG-13 one.

Ummm its Ghost Rider

We all expect crap, indeed I did. I watched this because I was bored in Copenhagen and knew the pub would not open up before 2pm for the Arsenal match. So I endured the strange adverts and watched and ill be damned but if this ain't fun
Its leaner then the first film
Far less serious
Invites far more Cage Wicker Man. Seriously he goes full nutty at one point that is beyond wicker man,
The action scene's are far more enjoyable.

Honestly I was shocked I enjoy this, but no lie I did.

3/10 -> D-

While not the worst movie ever made as some people would have you to believe I think it's definitely a couple of steps behind the original (which wasn't all that great to begin it). I very much disliked that they decided to take a more serious approach with this one. I liked the spirit of the first one.

Besides a couple of good effects, there's not much to see here.

Huh? :P The first one is way more self-important and serious. This is intentional cheese to the max.

I watched it today. It's not good at all. Most of that is down to the way Cage acts as Blaze. When he is Ghost Rider, there are glimmers of what could be a good franchise, but it's just terribly acted and put forward.
