5/10 -> C-
It has a few good moments, but this is a movie that's neither scary nor funny despite trying to balance those two things out.
I actually think this movie would work much better if it wasn't a faux-mentary ala Blair Witch, Paranormal Activity, Cloverfield, etc...

I enjoyed it. Not a masterpiece, but a pleasant, quirky popcorn movie. It struggles a bit with the horror-to-humor ratio--it doesn't aim to be a pure horror experience, but the laughs are too subtle and infrequent for it to be a proper Shaun of the Dead style genre blend--and goes on around ten minutes longer than it needed to, but the troll effects are wonderful, the rural Norwegian locations have incredible atmosphere, and the actor playing the title character gives a nice, understated performance. I dug how he was more a weary civil servant than a badass monster slayer.
