The worst movie I've seen this year.

Well, guess I'm not seeing this movie.

I found it to be an entertaining teeny-bopper slasher. Nothing special, but I enjoyed it. I suppose it helped that I was expecting it to suck after all of the bad reviews. Really didn't think it was that bad though for what it was.

Yeah, this was pretty fucking awful but it was undeniably entertaining. Sure, it was stupid, the blood was obviously fake, the acting was atrocious, sometimes you just wanted to pull your hair out because what you were witnessing was so utterly ridiculous but ya know... It's fun in a so absolutely awful way. I watched it with my roommate and we spent the entire time making fun of it and had a blast. The one good thing about it, the lead actor was absolutely adorable.

...gross. I hope Wes Craven is embarrassed his name is on this utter drivel. He's made bad films before, but this is by far the worst film of his career. I'll praise it on just two counts. The general concept--a serial murderer, the Ripper, with seven personalities dies one night and seven babies are born the same evening, each representing one of his personalities, and it's said the Ripper will return for them one day--is fine, suitable for an '80s-style slasher, though it is squandered in the worst way imaginable. Second, there are a couple interesting shots interspersed throughout.

The rest: shit, shit, shit, shit, and more shit. Every performance is hilariously inept, but forgive the stars for they are young and saddled with a despicable screenplay by Craven himself. He attempts to ape Scream collaborator Kevin Williamson (and, it seems, the teen noir Brick) by having all the high school students be articulate, quirky pop-culture connoisseurs with a complex language all their own. But Craven has a tin ear for dialogue, the jokes are depressing, and the dramatic lines are hilarious (there are points where you know Craven assumes the audience has invested in these horny weirdos and their milieu, but we seriously, seriously haven't). The film, though awful from first frame to last, is at its worst when the Ripper isn't the focal point of the scene and Craven instead goes into teenage farce mode (everyone leave the bathroom! It's about to become the Fang Zone! WHAT THE FUCK). There's this stretch of the movie, from around minute twenty to the hour mark, where I just wanted to die it was so pathetic and dull and lame.

My eyes are still rolling around in my head. I weep for poor old washed up Wes Craven.

surprisingly not terrible and better than any movie of the scream franchise. i mostly agree with this review from slant magazine that gave it 2,5 out of 4 stars, although i think cravens "serpent and the rainbow", a film this reviewer enjoyed, is not good at all:

I work with the girl who played the religious teen in this movie and I give her so, so, so much shit over it.
