 The Human Centipede (First Sequence)
The Human Centipede (First Sequence) Quote: The Human Centipede (First Sequence) is a 2009 horror film starring Dieter Laser, Ashley C. Williams, Ashlynn Yennie, and Akihiro Kitamura, and directed by Tom Six. It tells the story of a crazed doctor who surgically joins three victims together, mouth to anus, to form a human centipede-like bioform. The film won several awards at horror film festivals but received mixed reviews from critics

B. Bad acting at first, but it turns into quite the disturbing horror movie later on.

Once you get past your initial revulsion, it actually becomes something pretty interesting. I'll never watch it again, though.

Re: The Human Centipede (First Sequence)
God the acting by the two girls was atrocious. Not to mention their characters were the biggest morons I've seen in a horror movie in some time. It was all quite hilarious. The characters of the police officers were also idiots. The movie was definitely interesting though. Would have certainly been better with two more capable actresses.

Re: The Human Centipede (First Sequence)
I don't think too many capable actresses who have the talent of actually doing something in their career are willing to go ass to mouth.
But I kind of liked Lindsay. Yeah they're all dumb bitches (I woulda been outta durr instead of going into the basement to get my ging friend. Fuq her), but wouldn't most horror movies not happen if the characters made intelligent decisions?

Re: The Human Centipede (First Sequence)
I just watched this and I absolutely loved it. It was disgusting and it was surprisingly very scary. The chase sequence in the middle of the movie was brilliant. The direction and sound mixing were top notch too. This is one of the best horror movies in a long, long time.
8/10 (A-)

What a ridiculous movie. As a completely earnest disturbing horror film...it is pretty much impossible to take it seriously. I'm really not sure about its intentions? Is it meant to horrify and disturbs? Because it clearly fails. Is it meant to be a dark comedy of sorts? Now that I can see, though it was only sporadically funny.
The acting in the film is mostly miserable. Dieter Laser's Dr. Heiter is the clear highlight here and responsible for all of the film's funny moments. The opening scene in which he tries to hide the huge-ass rifle under his coat and approaches the truck driver who is taking a dump...that's comedy gold. As well as the scenes in which he remembers his "beloved three-dog". But then, there are moments of absolute dry seriousness in which the film tries to show off its quality as horror and gross out the audiences. It never really succeeds. The premise is too ridiculous and the characters are just too annoying for the audiences to care for them in any way.
As I said, I enjoyed it for the deeply dark humor in some scenes. It is in particular funny if you know German (I'm thinking about the scene in which the girls are talking to that other driver when they got lost)...without that, my grade probably would have been even lower.
Can't say I am excited about the sequel, but I am still at least a little bit curious.

I didn't know they really were making a sequel, but I looked it up on IMDB and indeed they are. I wonder what the plot will be.

Re: The Human Centipede (First Sequence)
As much as I loved this one, I'm not really anticipating the sequel too much. It seems a little too out there, but we'll see. I'll definitely check it out.

Re: The Human Centipede (First Sequence)
I truly hated this. Depressing, grotesque, never suspenseful (its biggest offense), poorly acted, and poorly made. I do "get it." I understand the midnight-movie appeal of the concept. But it was a tough sit for the intended reasons (gag) and, alas, for all the wrong reasons (yawn).

Re: The Human Centipede (First Sequence)
4/10 -> D
Nowhere as shocking, appealing, twisted, sick as I expected. Instead it's pretty light and actually it could've been a great comedy horror. There are so many scenes where the movie twists the usual horror cliches but for some reason the effects of twisting that stuff is totally unused.
I was disappointed by this one after everything I've heard about it. The plot ended up being totally underused IMHO.
