 Manhattan
Manhattan Quote: Manhattan is a 1979 romantic comedy film about Isaac Davis (Woody Allen), a twice-divorced 42-year-old comedy writer dating a 17-year-old high school girl (Mariel Hemingway). Isaac eventually falls in love with his best friend's mistress (Diane Keaton). The movie was written by Allen and Marshall Brickman, who had also successfully collaborated on Annie Hall, and directed by Allen. Manhattan was filmed in black and white and 2.35:1 widescreen.
The film was nominated for two Academy Awards for Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Mariel Hemingway) and Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen. It also won the BAFTA Award for Best Film. The film was #46 on American Film Institute's "100 Years... 100 Laughs". This film is number 63 on Bravo's "100 Funniest Movies." In 2001, the United States Library of Congress deemed the film "culturally significant" and selected it for preservation in the National Film Registry.

 Re: Manhattan
My favorite film by Woody Allen, wherefore it ought to be considered his best film as well.

Some, that is the inane ones, prefer 'Annie Hall'.

Fantastic. Probably ranks third for me in terms of Woody Allen (behind Annie Hall and Hannah and Her Sisters). A

 Re: Manhattan
I've only seen four or five Allen movies so far, this is by far my favorite.

Exactly. If they don't know how to behave, and feel OK offending others, they get their ass kicked, so they'll think next time before opening their rotten mouths.

 Re: Manhattan
Definitely my favorite by Allen that I've seen, the finale is worthy of Chaplin.

I've only seen this once, but I think I was too young to fully appreciate it.

 Re: Manhattan
Good, but overrated compared to Allen's other movies. Frankly it's probably the bottom half for his films among the ones I've seen.
Stardust Memories is the unbelievable B&W Allen for me

 Re: Manhattan
You must've seen all the really good ones. I'm at ten Allens seen at this point and Manhattan is my favorite by far. Sleeper and Zelig are coming soon!
