 Re: Race to Witch Mountain
The action scenes are very small scale and usually very dark. Overall it is pretty average. The male kid is completely disposable and boring. The Rock is good but he has no chemistry with Carla Gugino (who I like a ton).
The cameos from the kids from the original were ok, but damn did Tony seem the definition of milquetoast. The other cameo by Meredith Salinger from The Journey of Natty Gann was subtle and interesting.
The movie seemed to be playing up to the introduction of Gary Marshall, as if it would be some huge reveal, but it wasn't. Its Gary Marshall afterall; I doubt most people give a fig about him.
Some of the nerdier elements at the sci-fi convention were well done and a high point.
Like the kid, the film is boring. C.

slightly above average. Acting was good all around but I think Robb was the weakest, boring indeed.

 Re: Race to Witch Mountain
Such a terrible movie. Had high hopes from the trailer. The acting was downright wooden. Ludwig really sucks. Johnson and Robb didn't do very well either. Jokes fell flat everywhere. It was generic, the action was needless really for a movie like this.
Around a D.

 Re: Race to Witch Mountain
Despite an enjoyable cast, the film falls flat on his face with the story and the action gets boring at one point. Also, the antagonist (the governemnt at Witch Mountain) couldn't be any more annoying bringing the film down even more. Small bits of comedy here and there and the enjoyment of the cast is what puts this film in the average range. C

Yeah, not much to say about this. It's a decent enough flick, but it once again got me thinking that The Rock needs a better agent. Seriously, there's just so much wasted potential in him. And he keeps churning out films like this,The Game Plan or Tooth Fairy instead of doing more films like Walking Tall or The Rundown (roles he was born to play). It was also sad to see Carla Gugino so underused here.
AnnaSophia Robb has some good screen presence and should be a star one day. Alexander Ludwig...not so much. Some nicely done visuals and a few decent action scenes make sure the movie never bores, but it also never really entices either. It's competently made, but just kind of "there".

 Re: Race to Witch Mountain
3/10 -> D-
Johnson's considerable charm is wasted in this remake. The kids are horrible and Gugino is basically completely obsolete. And I usually like her.
The movie does have a good pace as things constantly move forward, but it's not compelling or even mildly entertaining watch. The script feels more like a draft than a polished end product. The plot is barely sketched out and all of the dialogues are cringe worthy.
Even despite very low expectations, this ended up like a disappointment.
