Rambo: First Blood Part II
Rambo: First Blood Part IIQuote: Rambo: First Blood Part II (also known as Rambo II) is a 1985 action film. A sequel to 1982's First Blood, it is the second installment in the Rambo series starring Sylvester Stallone, who reprises his role as Vietnam veteran John Rambo. Picking up where the first film left, the sequel is set in the context of the Vietnam War POW/MIA issue; it sees Rambo released from prison by Federal order to document the possible existence of POWs in Vietnam, under the belief that he will find nothing, thus enabling the government to sweep the issue under the rug.
Rambo: First Blood Part II was directed by George P. Cosmatos. The film was on the ballot for the American Film Institute's 100 Years... 100 Cheers, a list of America's most inspiring movies. Entertainment Weekly ranked the movie number 23 on its list of The Best Rock-'em, Sock-'em Movies of the Past 25 Years.

Rambo: First Blood Part II - A+
The best action movie of the eighties! The acting is brilliant, ok, not from Julia Nickson (hehe) but from Stallone and Berkoff, it is spot on. The character building is brilliant, from the boat ride to the damaged war hero feeling you get from Trautman and Rambo's brief coversation. I think this film needs to go down in cinemtaic history as the best action film ever, it offers everything an action film should offer, and more!!

It still baffles me how this movie could be so big in the 80s, even knowing how big of an action star Stallone was back then. It is an entertaining and very rewatchable actioner, but the words "nothing special" are still very appropriate in desrcibing it. At least ion the first movie Stallone was able to show off some unexpected acting skills...

Re: Rambo: First Blood Part II
I disagree that there is nothing special about the film. It's a higly intelligent film with great action to boot. Its nowhere in the leagues of the other one man army films. Here I could actually believe Rambo did what he did, he was a stealth fighter throughout (Ok, the ending fight was a little rediculous, however the attacks of the men in the woods were superbly well done.)
The political undertones is what makes it hold up well today. Stallone and Arnold werent just action stars, they could act and were charismatic. Just compare them to Segal or Vandamme and you'll see why they faded out.
Stallone was on top of the world, and why the film isnt as good or as gritty as First Blood, this film is definitely entertaining, with a kickass soundtrack, and Stallone at his best.
Solid A all the way.

Re: Rambo: First Blood Part II
So, after watching Rambo yesterday I got in the mood for more and watched this. No idea where the D from my first post comes, but his was damn entertaining. The last half hour is just a joy to watch. I just wished there would have been a more badass way to deal with this sucker Murdoch.

Perfect. Film-making does not get better than this feast of musical brilliance and visual greatness. Icon-making at its finest.

Re: Rambo: First Blood Part II
In the follow up to First Blood, this is a very satisfying sequel seeing Rambo getting back into deliberate action. There's a nice growing bond between Trautman and Rambo and Julie Nickson really puts her stamp on the film as Co too. There's a bunch of memorable villainous characters as well and it just well written overall. The one-man army action to eventually rescue the POW's is great, but the build up and all is really. They probably went the best way they could with Rambo's story after First Blood and its enjoyable from start to finish. It's less delicate and in some way less great than the first film, but it's still involving and comes around as one of the best films of the 80's.

Re: Rambo: First Blood Part II
It's definitely a great action film, but at the end of the day I just prefer First Blood and Rambo 2008 more. The action is pretty epic though, although to me it has always felt like it takes forever to get there, but the wait is definitely worth it.
