Post 2005 Multipliers
The following are multipliers for films that have been in wide release in 2005 (over 600 theaters). Previous box office (Wed/Thurs.) is not counted towards the multiplier. Films that open limited and expand to wide release have their opening weekend counted as their expansion week, but the box office before is not counted towards the multiplier.

EDIT: Movies that open wide on Wed. or Thurs. the money made on those two days is counted towards the total gross. If the movie is limited on those two days before going wide the gross does not count!!!

Nice for White Noise considering its only in its second week. Should finish with close to $70 million.

-White Noise should get over 2.5. However, I think it will drop more next weekend then it did this weekend.
-Elektra should get about 2.2, like Torque.
-I would give Racing Stripes about 3.25, a bit weaker then Shark Tale. EDIT: actually MLK day alone should mean about 3.55.
-For Coach I'll go with 3.55. That should be enough for the top 15 of the year. Great WOM should help it.
-For In Good Company I'll go with 3.65. A bit of an expansion and starting in a low theater count should help, but I'm not going as high as BJ.

It did even better and dropped only 23% in U.K. (Like you mentioned in the International thread) =D>

Yeah, it is certainly witty at it's best. Although, it felt a bit more like a drama then a comedy to me. Not that that's a bad thing; you can probably tell from my top ten that I'm not usually a fan of comedies. It just about met my expectations. 7.7/10; #13 of the year for me.

I'm putting it in '05. It was only released in '04 b/c of Oscar hopes, but Universal did a GREAT job with that, didn't they. Ugh. Topher deserved a Sup. Actor nominee.

I didn't find it that funny, either. Zingaling claims everyone was cracking up at the interactions between Carter and Dan, but, I didn't find it THAT funny. It's a smart script, but it isn't nearly as funny as American Pie or even Down to Earth (a guilty pleasure. heh).

I thought it was really funny. Not hilarious, but funny. The audience was laughing a lot in the movie, and that surprised me.

For example, the scene when Carter went to Dan's house. Lots of laughs during that scene.

It was hard to tell if the audience I was with found it to be funny as there were only 10 people there. There were quite a few funny moments, but this wasn't American Pie, and I got the impression that was more for lack of effort then execution. They just really didn't try to be funny for much of the film, which is fine by me. The movie wasn't what I expected. I thought that Topher's mocha driven speech from early on, which was shown often in the commercials, would be more representative of the film, when in fact it was not. Still, I ended up enjoying the film for what it is.

BTW, I did not think Down to Earth was funny.

EDIT: Let's stop hijacking this thread. This should be the IGC thread if anything.

lol only a 3.65 multiplyer it would have that in two to three wknd  Im expecting a multiplyer in the 10-12 range  sounds optomistic but its probably not.

I expect a drop of around 30% this weekend. 25% if it expands enough. With the weekdays at this time of the year, you need some slim drops just to reach a mutliplier over 3.5.

Well, it looks like Elektra has a good shot at falling shy of a multiplier of 2. It has a massive drop this week, and the coming weeks won't be much better as it loses theaters. That would make it the 3rd largest opening ever to reach a mult. of 2. Considering that the largest ever, Alexander, was released only two months ago, these are indeed frontloaded times that we live in. I think this might be the year in which we increasingly see films fall short of a multiplier of 2. I wouldn't suprise me if we have a large opener do it.

As for the other films, Coach Carter and Racing Stripes both dropped more then I expected. Their multipliers probably won't be much better then 3, if even that. However, IGC should still get over 3.5 IMO.

As for this week's openers, I expect a multiplier of about 3.4 for AWTY?, and 2.1 for AP13. That one will have massive theater count losses after the second weekend.
