Selena
SelenaQuote: Selena is a 1997 American biographical drama film about the life and career of the late Tejano music star Selena, a recording artist who was well known in the Mexican-American and Hispanic communities in the United States and Mexico before she was shot to death at the age of twenty-three.
The movie stars Jennifer Lopez as Selena, in her breakthrough role. Her father, Abraham Quintanilla, Jr., is played by Edward James Olmos and Constance Marie plays Marcella Ofelia Samora–Quintanilla.

Really underrated, and one of the best filmed biographies ever. Jennifer Lopez is phenomenal as Selena, and Edward James Olmos is also wonderful as her father/manager. The film really gives you a sense of the loss felt by her fans and the community upon Selena's death. A-

Re: Selena
I'm watching this on Lifetime right now. This is one of those movies I end up watching in full every single time it's on television. It was one of my favorite movies when I was younger. In fact, the soundtrack is the first CD that I ever owned. I remember I rented this nearly every single time I went to the video store until I finally found a copy to buy. Jennifer Lopez is phenomenal here. She was seriously robbed of an Oscar nominated. It's still her best performance and one I am almost positive she will never top. It's a wonderful movie and it's so fucking heartbreaking. The ending is so, so perfect and beautiful.
9/10

Re: Selena
I didn't realize that she died last year until I was watching the SAG awards. I've never seen her in anything else, but she was very good here.

Don't you remember her in As Good as It Gets? She was the target of this line from Jack Nicholson: "Where did they teach you to talk like this? Some Panama City sailor wanna hump-hump bar? Or is this getaway day and your last shot at his whiskey? Sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here."

Re: Selena
I think the movie is a C it's your typical biopic the director didn't do anything interesting with the story but the performances particularly Lopez's are A+ so I give it a B.
