 Spider-Man 3
Spider-Man 3 Quote: Spider-Man 3 is a 2007 American superhero film written and directed by Sam Raimi, with a screenplay by Ivan Raimi and Alvin Sargent. It is the third film in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy based on the fictional Marvel Comics character Spider-Man. The film stars Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, James Franco, Thomas Haden Church, Topher Grace, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rosemary Harris, J.K. Simmons and James Cromwell. The film begins with Peter Parker basking in his success as Spider-Man, while Mary Jane Watson continues her Broadway career. Harry Osborn still seeks vengeance for his father's death, and an escaped convict, Flint Marko, falls into a particle accelerator and is transformed into a shape-shifting sand manipulator. An extraterrestrial symbiote crashes to Earth and bonds with Peter, influencing his behavior for the worse. When Peter abandons the symbiote, it finds refuge in Eddie Brock, a rival photographer, causing Peter to face his greatest challenge.
Spider-Man 3 was commercially released in multiple countries on May 1, 2007, and released in the United States in both conventional and IMAX theaters on May 4, 2007, by Columbia Pictures. Although the film received mixed reviews from critics, in contrast to the previous two films' highly positive reviews, it stands as the most successful film in the series worldwide, Marvel's most successful film, and Sony Pictures Entertainment's highest grossing film to date.

I was never more disapointed. I loved the first two movies (both A+) and this one was just so.. average. It was okay but that's not nearly enough for a Spider-Man movie. They should have left Sandman completely out (he sucked) and make Venom the main (and only) villian. Bryce Dallas Howard was gorgeous but underused and not too well written. It seemed in many places like a parody of itself. Reminded me much of X3. Sooo many short scenes, no time for the movie to 'breath'. It was entertaining, but more in a Ghost Rider way. I can't believe The Hitcher stays as my favorite movie this year so far. It's so sad. B

It pains me to say it but everyone who said that they put too much in the movie was right. The last 10 minutes were downright awful.

Saw it two weeks ago. Here's what I wrote elsewhere on the site
Wow did the movie disappoint me. Granted I had high expectations after the first two, but Raimi really messed this one up a bit. There are way to much characters and plots which leads to a sometimes unfocused movie. There are scenes in it that really make you frown (cocky Peter Parker and the kitschy ending for instance). Fans of the comics (not me) probably will be pissed by some of the decisions he makes regarding the Green Goblin. The F/X are awesome but all in all Spider-Man 3 is a moie that could have just as good been shot by Brett Ratner, it really lacks Raimis personality that he injected in the first two. If it wasn't for the Bruce Campbell cameo you couldn't tell it was by Raimi. I still liked it at times but if he hadn't put in so many unnecessary characters and trimmed it a bit, it would have been way better. Gwen Stacy for instance should never have been in this movie, she doesn't add anything to the story...

Evil Spider-Man and Good Spider-Man don't happen to split into two seperate entities and have a fight at a junkyard do they?

I've been hearing some reviews about Dunst singing, numerous songs actually. How's that? Is it like... in a stage play, or does she sing-talk?

The first time is right at the beginning on a theater stage, the second one is in a club. I heard rumors that one song is not her singing. Far worse though is that in the theater scene she seemd totally overwhelmed. It was some of the worst acting she ever did

*minor spoiLers ahead*
A minor Letdown from the first two, but I'm generousLy giving it an "A-" because it had the best visuaL f/x and action sequences of the three which is what I usuaLLy Look for for these type of fiLms. To support that, Venom Looked the most reaListic and engaging CG characters since Davey Jones and King Kong. SeLected scenes with Sandman in it Looked pretty impressive, and the action scenes in the end were spectacuLar. However, the fiLm put so much effort on visuaL f/x and action sequences as refLected in its $250+m production budget and not on the characters, good storyLine, etc. For exampLe, some characters (i.e., Gwen Stacy, Sandman) were so weak that they seemed unnecessary for the whoLe of the fiLm. Venom, which was great shouLd have appeared earLier or should I say he shouLd have been the onLy viLLain in the fiLm other than Harry Osborne. Peter Parker changing into someone eLse, into an "emo punk" Look IMO Looked stupid and unintentionaLLy funny, and Harry Osborne's arrivaL in the end was one of the most predictabLe things I've seen in a HoLLywood movie. There were a number of moments that I Liked, but Spider-Man 1 and 2 especiaLLy the first had unforgettabLe ones. NevertheLess, it was very entertaining to watch and the above compLaints didn't affect my rating for the overaLL fiLm that much.

And yet she was far better than James Franco, who once gives an awful performance. His flashback scene made me laugh out loud. I think it was Dunst's voice on the song (I'm Through with Love), but I'd be really surprised if that was her singing in the stage play.
About the film, yeah, worse than the first 2 ( B/B- vs A and A+). I wasn't bothered with the numerous villains or the love pentagon (PP, MJ, Osborn, Stacy, and Brock). But I was very annoyed with the directions the characters took. IMO Every major character did at least one thing tha made no sense. The action was good but nowhere as exciting as the first 2 parts. The only CGI that made go WOW was Sandman's first scene.

Color me disappointed..
It's actually not as bad as X3. But close! The first half is OK, the second half is just a mess. I'm not a fan of the comics, but I loved the first two Spider-Man movies so much (A- and A). Still, it's entertaining, solid film but not good enough for Spider-Man franchise.
My personal thought; the drama part was handled better than the action part (that doesn't say much since the action part -including visual f/x- was surprisingly quite awful, IMO).

I still think they might've ruined the franchise by showing Spidey to the world in #2...

just came back form the show. i had to say the 3rd Spider-Man didn't match up the previous 2 movies. i'm getting out form the theatres with some sort of dissapointment. the story was just okay, the only good thing in the movie are the impressive SFX, Lovely Kirsten Dunst, and of course Sexy Bryce Dallas Howard. sadly Bryce time in the movie were too short. the only thing that get me excited is the last battle from the movie, with a little surprise, and weird feeling.
overall i can only give this movie B grade. i think Pirates 3 will give me more satisfaction than Spider-Man 3 in the end of May.

Oh boy, I can feel the hate coming. Pirates 2 at least had some A grades early on before people started trashing it, this one everyone is saying it's worse.

Eh I dont care for the first two, both B/B+'s from me so this one I'm going in with no expectations really just for some good action and fun, and if I get that Im good to go.

Man, I have a feeling this will really divide fans big time....
Anyway, I liked the first(B+) and loved the second(A), so I expect to like it no less than the first.

I don't think it'll split them, hardcore fans of course but just the reg movie goes , it looks like it has a lot of action so they should be pleased.
