 Robin Hood: Men in Tights Robin Hood: Men in Tights Quote: Robin Hood: Men in Tights is a 1993 comedy of the story of Robin Hood. Produced and directed by Mel Brooks, the film stars Cary Elwes, Richard Lewis, and Dave Chappelle in his film debut. The film includes frequent comedic references to previous Robin Hood films (most particularly Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, upon which the plot is loosely structured, Disney's Robin Hood, and The Adventures of Robin Hood), early-1990s pop culture, and real-life subjects.

A few laughs...a few. Just a few. Not many. Maybe four. Mel Brooks hasn't made a good film since 1976.

Brooks had a great streak of quality films after a disappointing most of the 80s and late 70s with Spaceballs, this, and Dracula. He was back in top form, and it really is a shame that no one makes spoof like this anymore, that stick with one source material and go for the most output, while still having an endearing story.

A lot of the jokes feel like old cast-offs and the basic structure is incredibly stale, I felt like I was watching an old Punch and Judy show at points.
On another note the increasing frequency of my Yoshue agreements is a source for grave concern. The quick glance KJ film taste chart below suggests I like being in between Mr.X/Anderoo territory, the thought of going higher eats away at my little rural mind.

I dunno much about excel though. Unless he's the one doing the 100 thread currently.
Anyway, this movie was hilarious when I watched it last. I should watch it again. :up:

Childhood favorite of mine. Having seen it recently I think I've outgrown it, but there are still some great bits (The Men in Tights number, for one).

I'm not a fan of Mel Brooks, but this one was alright. It had its moments of comic brilliance. Not many, but it had them. I thought Elwes was okay, Chappelle was irritating (though not as much as he is now), and Prince John was kinda funny, but I liked the guy playing the Sheriff the best. I loved that Patrick Stewart showed up at the end as well. I laughed more than I thought I would, but I still didn't like it that much.
