Meh. Will Ferrell and Jon Heder are game stars and it skates along on hard-to-resist absurdity, but too much of the humor falls flat and it feels stitched together from Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby and Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy's leftovers. Watchable, but nothing special whatsoever. C+.

I found it hilarious. Jon Heder kind of seemed a little awkward being in the position he was and I really did not like his character, but Will Farrell was amazing. Funniest movie I have seen in a long time.

A/A-
The best Will Ferrell vehicle to date(that's excluding Zoolander), it's stronger than Anchorman or Talladega for me... Just perfect and gold, loved every last minute. Sure to go in his classic collection when looking back at his prime in the future.
Loved the supporting cast here too btw, Phoeler and Arnett and Fischer are all great.
I might type more later. Blew past my expectations though. Awesome!

must mention one thing.
i loved the 3rd part of the film when they moved to Montreal. It was hilarious unintentionally for me because of how Farell tried to get to the olympic stadium. If you're familar with the city, You'll realize that the route he took started him off on the east for the stadium, then he was 10 km west of the stadium, then east again, back to the west and then east.
hehehe
and i don't know why but the best scene in the entire movie was when they flew out. brilliant on so many levels yet stupid

I hope Ferrel doesn't get stuck with this crutch of, "Well was it better than Anchorman?". I have to admit though that I immediately thought of that when the movie was over, and the answer is no. Not even close. However, it's slightly better than Talladega Nights.
The film is hilarious from beginning to end, but it hits a couple of speed bumps along the way. The biggest of them all is Nick Swarsdon. I like Swarsdon and he can be very funny. Here, everytime he hits the screen, that scene immediately dies. I'm not sure if it's just the character or Swarsdon, but he easily could've hit the cutting room floor.
Then there is the supporting cast. With the exception of Craig T. Nelson, Fischer, Arnett and Poehler aren't given a hell of a lot to do. They're funny, but their characters aren't as drawn out as say the trio's from 40 Year Old Virgin or Anchorman. Speaking of Virgin, it was cool to see Romany Malco (Jay) in the film.
But, as I said, the film is hilarious, with the chase being the best part, except for maybe when the hole miracously opens up in the stadium and Chaz and MacElroy fly out. For some reason though, the crowd I saw it with didn't respond to it at all. I have no idea why. And what almost had me on the floor laughing was when the mascot gets shot in the head with the arrow. It was something about just the way he fell down.
So I'd say Blades of Glory isn't as strong as Anchorman, but it's slightly stronger than Nights.

See, that's where I disagree. The reason why I found Anchorman and Talladega much funnier than this was becuase those films had a much better supporting cast. Still, the film was hilarious.
I agree Magnus, the filmw as missing a certain character along the lines of the Frenchman in Talladega Nights.

I didn't expect to laugh as much as I did. and the "gay" jokes were kept tasteful and surprisingly to a minimum. a solid B.

Not as funny or as good as either Anchorman or Talladega Nights, but then again, I didn't expect it to be. Will Ferrell continues to regain the comic strength he lost throughout 2005, as hilarious as usual. The supporting cast is very good(but not up to the past Ferrell vehicles). The only one out of place is Jon Heder, who continues to prove he'll never live down to his Napoleon Dynamite image. Like in Nights, product placement is everywhere. I laughed very often. B

Was I the only one underwhelmed by this movie? It had a number of hilarious moments, no doubt, but there were so many dead spots, a few of which were Envy-awful... such as everything involving the gay, homicidal (?) stalker.

Basically over-the-top and ridiculous, but also very funny. I laughed harder than I have in a while, so I came out happy. I'd say it was slightly better than Talladega Nights. B

Loved the movie as much as Talledegah Nights. Way over the top funny especially the north korean freak accident on video and the ice skating chase scene between Farrell and Arnet. I thought Jon Heder did just fine and dont agree with the criticism against him on this thread. Never knew Jenna Fischer can be that cute in the movie, definately a little of her Office personal in that character

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that too... it was the first time Heder has been worthwhile since Dynamite. His schtick will never be able to carry movies, but as something like a sidekick to Ferrell in this, it was a perfect pairing. I loved his "kiss".

It's really funny, but it's not as memorable as Talladega Nights, and I kinda felt that Jon Heder brought it down from its potential by, you know, not being funny. Will Ferrell's brilliant, though.

The stalker was fucking hillarious (Uhm... I'm still gonna kill you someday *shrug*) but I don't disagree that it's not great. Will Ferrell was excellent, but this didn't have the solid supporting casts of Anchorman or Talladega Nights. It wasn't as madcap funny as Anchorman, and Talladega Nights benefit from actually feeling like a real movie with genuine character arcs and a lot of very smart lampooning that knew exactly how far to go. This on the other hand was a lot more routine with an excellent leading man to elevate it to being occasionally hillarious but rather slight and unmemorable. B-

Talladega was hurt by its ambition to be a 'real' movie. It's not very funny for the first hour.

Very funny film. Probably on the same level as Anchorman and Nights. Jenna Fischer is hot as hell. The funniest part was when Snowflake the mascot got shot with a crossbow.

Decent, though my least favorite of Ferrell's straight up comedies since Old School.

Pretty hilarious, but it wasn't consistently so. There were a lot of jokes that just fell flat, but I laughed the most I have this year at a movie, so it's gets credit for that.

I'm giving it a solid A. It was hilarious. I have never liked Jon Heder until now. Perfect performances by both of them. Will and Amy were great too. Jenna is smokin hot! Great movie.

Once again, I find the usual lack of respect for quality humor. People go crazy over some dismally dramatic tale of disability, or gaga for a heroic tragedy, yet when comedy, the other great pillar of modern theatre is borne forth on gales of laughter, it is forsaken. Woe is thee.
Blades of Glory is magnificent. A low comedy supreme. Forget the sadly unimaginative comparisons -- Anchorman on Ice -- C'mon! Give me a freakin' break... if anything, it's 2007's Zoolander with a dollop of Dodgeball.
Terrific storyline, use of peripheral media, and unexpectedly expected cameos. Ferrell and Heder are so at the top of their games, that it seems effortless for them. It is a classic. Double axels onto my top ten list for 2007.
8 out of 5.

I saw it a second time and loved it as much as the first... My top movies of 06 were Little Miss Sunshine, Clerks 2, and Jackass 2, and Blades of Glory isn't far behind them. It continues the tradition of low-brow humor kicking ASS as of late. It's easily the best of the comparable Ferrell 3 for me.

Based upon my first viewing, I might've given this a C+ or B-. But I saw it a second time later in the week, this time not under the "influence" of drowse-inducing Benadryl, and it ended up being ten times more hilarious!
So, I'm actually going to give this a borderline B+/A-. The reason it isn't a straight A- is because I felt as though too much of the movie was shown in the trailer and kinda ruined many of the moments.
But it was still frickin' hilarious!

Saw this earlier in the week. Pretty damn hilarious.
I loved that the film wasn't afraid to veer into ridiculousness and Will Ferrell made what could have been potentially lame comedic material into something very funny. Heder was pretty good too. Jenna Fischer was veeeerry hot and charming.
Great skating sequences as well. Just a lot of fun. B+

I thought it was really funny. And I hated Talladega Nights (have never saw Anchorman, for some reason). I thought Will Ferrell was perfect, and Jon Heder is not nearly as bad as some are saying. I also enjoyed the supporting cast. Nelson, Arnett, and especially Fischer were all great. Poehler was the only real weak link. Arnett was easily the funnier of the two, although he was written that way it would seem.
And Jenna Fischer is hot being sexy or just being cute.
I did enjoy seeing William Fichtner in something besides Prison Break. Even though his character in the movie wasn't much nicer than his character on Prison Break.
I will agree on Nick Swardson. He's just plain bad. I really don't know what he's going for. The only funny part he has ever had was in The Benchwarmers.
Anyway... Grade: B+
