Some Like It Hot

Quote:
Some Like It Hot is a 1959 comedy film directed by Billy Wilder and starring Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon. The supporting cast includes George Raft, Joe E. Brown, Pat O'Brien and Nehemiah Persoff. The film was adapted by Billy Wilder and I. A. L. Diamond from the story by Robert Thoeren and Michael Logan. Logan had already written the story – but without the gangsters – for a German film, Fanfaren der Liebe (directed by Kurt Hoffmann, 1951), so that Wilder's film is considered by some as a remake.

During 1981, after the worldwide success of the French comedy La Cage aux Folles, United Artists re-released Some Like It Hot to theatres. In 2000, the American Film Institute listed Some Like It Hot as the greatest American comedy film of all time.

Hilarious. It's been re-imagined more times than I can count, but it's still charming and memorable. The chemistry between Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon is evident... laugh-a-minute, risque comedy. I'm shocked by how bold it is, actually. Marilyn Monroe was surprisingly fun as the singing, beautiful, and gullible object of the duo's affection.

I *love* this movie. I was lucky enough to see it the first time in the presence of Tony Curtis himself at the 2001 Reno Film Fest. I felt very honored to have been able to meet him and watch one of the best comedies I've ever seen.

The final lines of the movie has got to be amongst the top ten comedic lines in the history of Hollywood.

A+

Marilyn Monroe may not have been a great actress, but she was a great and terribly underrated comedienne.

Some Like It Hot will outlive all of us. Good thing, too.

It's amusing, but hardly "funniest movie ever!". In fact, it's more interesting as a kind of heteronormative commentary than as just another cross-dressing movie.

Why would a guy want to marry a guy?, indeed.

Lol easily the best cross dressing in a film, I sometimes forgot Jack Lemmon was a guy lol...

Its a really wild movie and imagine back in 1959 it must have been crazy.

Great comedy

and Marylin was amazing...

However Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon put all cross dressers to shame...

All all those innuendos toward homosexuality were quite surprising based on the fact the film is from 1959.
"I am a Man"
"well no body's perfect!"

lol :funny: :funny: :funny:
