Post The 24: Season Six Thread
News is beginning to spill in on the next season of 24, so I thought now swould be a good time to create a thread (Hey, Mr. X created the season 5 thread in August, its never too early).

Anyway, what we do know (The Stuff inside isn't super-duper spoilery, but I'll respect those who wish to remain in the dark as long as possible):

[spoil]

Palmer's bro Wayne (D.B. Woodside) will be the newly elected President, making it pretty obvious that it isn't being set the day after, and probably the usual 18 months, nless there was an emergancy recall election (But is that even possible in the Presidency?). Naturally, Woodside will be a regular, though thats hardly a help on 24. Link

Regina King will also be joining the cast as Palmer's sis, Angela, an advocacy lawyer. That info is also in the link.

Paul MacNicol (Ally McBeal, Nunb3rs) will be coming onboard the show (Not known whether or not he's going to be a regular) as a "high-ranking government official." Link

Ex-Prez Logan will appear in at least the first episode, according to Itzen in EW's Must List.

And last but no way in hell not least, the only info on the Man himself, Jack, is that "This one's much more about him saving his own [expletive deleted]. He'll go from being the one who hunts people down to the one who's being hunted, so that in itself turns the show around." Link
[/spoil]

SLIGHTLY LESS THEN FIVE MONTHS TO GO

July is too early. No, I was thinking the same thing about a new thread. I just didn't think anyone else would be ready to discuss. But, I'm always ready!

This December, fans can expect more episode-by-episode critiques from me, when I watch ALL five seasons again, up till the Season 6 premiere.

And lastly, here's to a big 24 night at the Emmys this year. A win for Itzin, Kiefer, Smart, and Best Drama? WE CAN DO IT!

They can't ignore 24 this time. Even if it doesn't win Best Drama, I'm sure it will win at least one of the acting noms or possibly the directing one.

That said, let the spoilers begin!

Casting news, again, I'll put spoiler tags:

[spoil]Just got off the phone with my 24 mole and he/she informs me that Eric Balfour has signed on to reprise his Season 1 role as independent CTU contractor Milo Pressman. My spy wouldn't say how Milo would be re-introduced, but he'll be sticking around for a while: Balfour will be credited as a series regular...

In other 24 news, former Star Trek: Deep Space Nine doc Alexander Siddig is joining the cast as one of the evildoers behind the big Season 6 plot. Additionally, Carlo Rota (aka Mr. Chloe O'Brian) will be back as a series regular.

[spoil]Another past character that 24 can re-introduce, just to kill them off later on in the season.

In all honesty, it's cool. I liked his character. But Balfour does not have a good track record with TV. I hope 24 isn't cancelled after he starts appearing on the show again.[/spoil]

[spoil]I read that appearently he was suppose to cameo at the end of season 5, but had to pull out at the last minute. I guess that answers who that phone call was suppose to be.

And I love the Mr. O'Brian and Siddig casting. :D A list of confirmed regulars:

Jack Bauer
Audrey Raines (Most likely, she said she'd pull double duty with 24 and The Nine)
Chloe O'Brian
Morris O'Brian
Wayne Palmer
Angela Palmer
Milo

And Curtis and Bill will most likely return, with the Logans 50/50 chance at returning to regular status and Agent Pierce, Novick and Karen potential addings, making a possible total of 14 cast members. Damn thats huge. I can't wait.[/spoil]

My own speculation:

[spoil]I'm going to take a guess that Audrey is going to be killed off early in the season. I honestly doubt that Kim Raver will do two shows in prominent roles. Best case scenario, she'll be placed in a Tony role and be in a coma. If The Nine fails, she'll come back. If it hits, she'll get offed.

The Logans will probably come back later on for an extended run, like Tony and Michelle in Season 4.

Novick will probably come back later on, but not permanently. I don't know if Wayne Palmer will use Novick, when Novick turned on David in Season 2.

Karen, Bill, and Curtis are no-brainers to return.[/spoil]

They should step up the scenes with Chloe next season. I want Rajskub to get an Emmy nod, damn it.

[spoil]Glad to see Wayne's coming back, he just kinda faded out of season five. And great to see Milo's coming back, it'll be cool to see him and Chloe interact.[/spoil]

Can't friggin' wait. This is a great shot to clean up at the Emmys this year, with Lost out of the running and most people agreeing this was one of the best seasons in its run and one of the best shows of the year.

[spoil]I really hope this doesn't mean that Chloe dies and Milo takes over her job (maybe he takes over Edgar's job?).[/spoil]

Cast update:

"Harold & Kumar" star Kal Penn ("Kumar") has joined the cast of Fox's action drama "24" in a recurring role.

[spoil]He will play a guy who is somehow involved with the Islamic guru running the neighborhood mosque and might be the key to a terrorist plot.[/spoil]

As if the casting can't get anymore weird/interesting, Michael Angarano, Jack's son from Will and Grace apparently gets the "teenager in peril" slot this season (see: Behrooz Araz, Derek, Kim Bauer, Kyle Singer...)

What ever happened to [spoil]the guy on the phone headset giving orders to the president[/spoil] in the last season of 24? Did I blink and miss them offering some explanation or capture of him and his colleagues? Are there any rumors or announcements of doing more with that story line? Or is it dropped and some eternal mystery in the series.

nope. no news on them.

i'm thinking they'll come into the picture in the same way Mia Krishner was. To be used again in a later season. Remember that at the end of the day, their plan failed and they're fanatical patriots. so they're bound to get their hands dirty again.

More Casting News... The Cast Keeps Growing

Eddie Izzard and James Cromwell will also be joining the cast in, at the very least, recurring roles.

Characters they'll play:
[spoil]Izzard will be playing some sort of bad guy, however Cromwell will be playing Jack Bauer's estranged father. I'm curious as to how they'll handle that.[/spoil]

Thanks to Christian for providing the link.

Its no secret that I love Izzard. Seeing him in concert was one of the top ten highlights of my life.

24 continues to amaze me.

Not sure where to put this but here you go

About The Simpsons
The landmark 400th half-hour, due to air next May, is a spoof of Fox's "24" that's titled "24 Minutes" and features the drama's Kiefer Sutherland and Mary Lynn Rajskub as their characters.

 That's so awesome. The Simpsons have featured episodes devoted to my two all-time favorite shows now (The X-Files and 24).

I hope the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant isnt part of the terrorist plot. It's almost, you know, too easy.

Don't expect anything less than easy from the writers. The season premiere this past Sunday would lead me to believe that monkeys are now penning each episode.

Isn't Kiefer already guest-starring in an upcoming episode this November?
