Mysterious Skin
Mysterious SkinQuote: Mysterious Skin is a 2004 drama film directed by American filmmaker Gregg Araki, who also wrote the screenplay based on the 1996 novel of the same name by Scott Heim. The film is Araki's eighth, premiering at the Venice Film Festival in 2004, although it was not more widely distributed until 2005. Mysterious Skin tells the story of two pre-adolescent boys who are sexually abused by their baseball coach, and how it affects their lives in different ways into their young adulthood, one becoming reckless and sexually adventurous and the other retreating into a fantasy of alien abduction.

I found it very hard to get into to be honest.
Its daring and the subject matter is meaty but it was a bit to artsy for my liking.
Might be up your street thou Zennier, your taste is different to mine.

I dunno, there are certain elements in this film (from what little I know) that are important/relative to me... I think I might find something in it and embrace it despite its flaws, if that makes sense.
A bit artsy, huh? In what way?

I have yet to finish the film. I've seen about 1/3 of it. I need to get it out of storage soon.

You'll love it, methinks.
Great film with two strong performances (Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Brady Corbet) - specially Levitt who's so brilliant I'd say he deserved much more attention awards-wise (and yes, an Oscar nom!), and also featuring the usually underused Elisabeth Shue in a comeback of sorts a decade after Leaving Las Vegas...

Re: Mysterious Skin
Joseph Gordon-Levitt was terrific in this. He really should have gotten some awards attention.

Re: Mysterious Skin
Definitely. Still his best performance to date.
