The Question Of The Night For Those Disappointed With X3..
I've been giving alot of thought to this Question concerning X3: THE LAST STAND and for those folks fortunate enough to have seen it and either hated it, were disappointed with it or simply liked it.. The Question is this: FOX Titled this final X-MEN movie "THE LAST STAND" Knowing that this more than likely would be the last movie in this particular storyline.. Diehard Fans who have seen the movie, walked out pissing vinegar over a couple of factors: The Running time of 97 Minutes is a starter.. The fans felt that 97 Minutes was FAR too short for a final movie like this and felt rushed and wasn't Epic enough in scope.. The other factor was too many characters and not enough screen time to flesh them out and the final one was Brett Ratner Directing this and how this was supposedly doomed from the getgo because of him.. The Question: If FOX were to announce tomorrow that they were going to backpedal on their decision to make X3 the final movie and decided to make X4 and continue on with it knowing this franchise was a $$$ maker, would your grade of X3 change from disappointment, a low grade you may have given it to a higher grade knowing there would be more movie's in the franchise?? You know what I'm saying?? Discuss..

As long as there is money to be made, there will be more Xflicks. Nemesis was supposed to be the end of Trek and was billed as such... that isn't so. There are plenty of other examples. It'll be back, even if only as the Wolverine flick with other superheros making cameos or something...

My grade would remain, my level of personal disappointment would level off, though because I'd see a hope for a potential deserving conclusion for the series.
Now if they announce X4 with the same screenwriters and same director, absolutely everything will remain the same.

I feel the quality that Singer brought isn't there with Ratner. It doesn't feel epic at all and isn't a great way to leave the series. Yes, it has action, but its nothing special. Also, there are a lot of mutants, but they don't have more than what they had in X2. They basically came up with 50 or so mutants just for shits and giggles, mutants I, nor the audience will care about. Magneto proves this towards the end that we shouldn't care about them.

[spoil]For those who have seen the movie and seen the last 10 seconds, we know that Fox are very interested in a 4th.[/spoil]
However, my grade won't change either way unless Fox plans a 137min edition. [spoil]Angel has 90 seconds of total screentime, for fuck sake.[/spoil]
It just seemed to me that it was everything plus Ratner was the problem. My C-/D+ grade stands not because I'm disappointed but because the film itself isn't even good.

What if FOX releases X3.5 as a longer version on DVD incorporating the scenes back in the movie that were left on the cutting room floor cause you know that's what there gonna do??? Would it change your Mind??

Well there must be a good reason why only 97 mins made it to print.

The reason: $$$$$$$$$$$... That's why.. It enables FOX to make even more when the Longer version comes on DVD like X2.5 did..

The film went into production in late August. They didn't have time. I will still frown upon no 3 anyway. It is an awful film.

You know?? They talk about the twist ending in X3 involving HIGHLIGHT SPOILER: Professor X Actually is alive at the end, but wouldn't it be something if the twist ended up being in the credits where it showed that Bryan Singer actually Directed this movie all along and they used Ratner as a decoy??? As a fan, would you of been pissed if Singer was really the one who directed this all along??

Absolutely agree 100%. A scene before the climax shows Wolverine trying to convince everyone to fight for this, and it took me a while before I realized that this was actually the climax. This movie could ahev really used some more substance to it.

I'm gonna predict right now that this is a movie that will grow on folks, specifically the diehard fans once there able to accept the flaws in this movie and see it more than once.. All signs seem to point to this..

I agree, and I expect myself to come to like it as much as the original at least. It was just a shock coming form such a great number 2 to...this.

Why should I change my grade if they wanna do another one? I for one grade movies for themselves, not in a bigger context. It will be a disappointing movie once and for all.
BTW: The runtime is 107, but that is still too short

Anyone who was disappointed with this movie went in wanting to find fault with it, thus setting yourselves up for disappointment.. Ratner did a FANTASTIC job on this and Knowles and the rest of ya who slammed this movie wouldn't know a good comicbook adaptation if it bit you in the ass..

The movie was awesome, this one definitely has the most rewatchability in it, even more than the first. I agree it could have been longer, same problem with T3, but even that was 108 minutes. X3 ended up being 104 minutes.
I feel they should have probably just waited for the phoenix problem for the last sequel. I mean Jean returning at the end and developing a subplot between Xavior and the Juggernaut would have resulted in a lot of the same. I mean, come on, the juggernaut hit a wall, thats not the end of him.
apart from that Xavior and Scott would be at odds, and perhaps Scott just goes on a quest most of the film to find himself.

I was always concerned the Last Stand tag line to be the Last Stand against the Magneto Trilogy. I really would like it if they made 3 more and had an Sentinal Sinister and Apocaylspe Trilogy.

Also, the juggernaut is not a mutant so why did leech affect his powers?

I think the movie could have been shorter by cutting out (no pun intended) Archangel.

How dare you, Archangel cannot be cut out
BTW - It wasn't Archangel, but Angel....he was one of the best things about the movie, I so'd wish he could've had more screentime and incorporate him more into the final battle.....
I want an X4, Angel better have a bigger slice fo the action......

Because he is a mutant. If he was human, Magneto wouldn't have recruited him. I know that he's not a mutant in the comics, but it wouldn't make any sense for Magneto to let a human join his army, regardless of powers.
