 Metal Gear Solid is coming
http://www.gamespot.com/news/6150282.html
Quote: When excited attendees left yesterday's Konami press conference, they were handed a catalog for Studio Kojima's forthcoming slate of games. However, many didn't know it, since the brochure was a clever imitation of the newsletter handed out each day at of E3.
On the front of the Kojima catalog was a "breaking news" box, which bore the headline "Solid Snake...On the silver screen?" The blurb below it read, "In a late-breaking surprise announcement, director Hideo Kojima revealed that his most famous creation--Metal Gear Solid--is getting the live-action treatment."
Given the semi-comic nature of the fake E3 newsletter/Kojima Productions catalog, many thought the story was a joke. However, on the last page of the pamphlet was a page-long article on the project which showed that Kojima was dead serious when he made the announcement.
After assuring readers at length that German director Uwe Boll will not have anything to do with the project, as rumored, Kojima talked about the film. "I have received many offers to adapt Metal Gear Solid, It has taken a long time, but we have finally settled on an arrangement," said the revered designer. "False facts aside, a movie project is underway. I have finalized a Class-A contract with a party in Hollywood."
Kojima did not mention the name of the party, a release date, or any potential directors or stars. However, ever since the original PlayStation Metal Gear Soild, the English-language dialogue of game hero Solid Snake has been voiced by Hollywood figure David Hayter. Though a prolific voice actor, Hayter has enjoyed greater success as a screenwriter, with credits for X-Men, X2, and the forthcoming Watchmen under his belt.

Should easily become the biggest videogame to movie hit as the plot and premise are very movie-friendly.

Huge Jackman is the only one who can play him, he's got the snake look/voice down, the first time i saw him in x-men i said thats solid snake!
I hope they get a good director and not someone like michael bay or Paul "avp" Anderson.

John Woo was interested a few years ago. He'd be a good choice.

Jackman is already attached to a famous well known character. Get someone like Eric Bana.
The only way this movie will be good is if Kojima himself is very much involved in the project and I think he is. Even at this point in the project this could easily be the best video game adaptation ever.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, he is way too campy to handle a film like MGS.
Everyone does no that Solid Snake was inspired by Snake Pliskin, I think if they want someone for big boss, they should get Kurt Russell. Especially now since the new game Snake is very older. Russell would be an ideal choice.

I read that the creator of the game personally would like someone like Viggo Mortensen for the role.

Now Viggo would be a good choice. Snake is stoic and no one plays stoic as well as Viggo. Another choice would be Benicio Deltoro

So are they going to base it on Metal Gear Solid, or Metal Gear? Because Snake's story doesn't exactly begin on that Alaskan base.

Its hard to say. There is literally so much story, that it is almost like 24 but for military. However, i think they will try and incorporate ideas from many of the games. Granted they started near 1984, but you dont want to adehere just to older fans. This has great potential.
