Not an unexpected fall for An American Haunting. Good hold for M:I-3 from estimates. I thought that 29% Sunday drop was a little underestimated.

Just $136,000 above The Longest Yard for Paramount's third biggest opening. Not too bad.

Although it would bump up my derby by about 1%

You want lies? Look at all numbers of all movies distributed by Universal Studios, like Bourne films and United 93. Each last digit ends up with either "5" or "0". How do you explain that?

I can't remember the last time I saw so many pathetic PTAs in the top 10. I'm sure there are plenty, but this weekend is just somehow striking.

282 million for 60% of the distribution rights. Sounds like you just lost a ton of money.

So with MI:3 dropping below Shark Tale, does that mean these are the worst PTAs ever for both a 4000+ and 3000+ film in the same weekend? Strange coincidence to have them both together like this.

Nope, Madagascar had a worse PTA of $11,431 in 4,131 theaters.

Bad for M:I 3 considering the hype and expectations. It's Cruise's fault.

Horrid for Hoot.

Poor Hard Candy. It deserved far better.

MI:3's tipid weekend opening proves Tom Cruise should take a break for a couple of years and stay out of the Limelight..

I agree that he should stay out of the press and stick to making smaller films. His last two have both been big budget blockbusters, and now his antics have finally caught up with him.

A bad drop for United 93, although it was somehow expected from the dailies. I guess Dave Chappelle and United 93 will have the worst miultipliers ever for films with an RT score higher than 90% (I might be wrong though).

And does anyone think 2005 might beat 2006 the next weekend? Monster in Law + Kicking and Screaming + Unleashed > Poseidon + Just my Luck + Goal!. It all depends on the drop of MI3 and the opening of Poseidon.

To be fair, yes, M:I-3 did disappointing numbers thus far. But only because the expectations were high, just like mine and others, it doesn't mean that Cruise has lost his drawing power. I see M:I-3 ending up with $140+ million in the US, due to good WoM and probably $370-390 million worldwide. Is that really sumething to be that upset about? It's not like it will fail to make $100 million even like Hanks' The Terminal...

I do not know why people are calling Mission Impossible 3 a "dissapointing" figure.

$47m is about 500x what I have in my bank, so, that is a LOT of money!
