Lady in the Water - The brilliant WB marketing
Holy crap, is this movie even coming out this summer? The last M.Might movie The Village which was handled by Disney had hype 6 months before it came out, they did such an effective job even if it was false advertisement, they had so many previews very early in advance, like the 6min clip reel on ABC when they aired Sixth Sense then they played out the whole mystery behind the film so well, hell their was even a mockmumentary on M.Night.
Now heres WB, ON THE 9TH WE FINALLY GET TO SEE THE TRAILER ON THE ELLEN SHOW!!!!!!! YAY!!!!
Honeslty, the only movie WB knows how to market right is Harry Potter but really that movie sells itself, the hype is everywhere, the rest of the media does a better job at marketing it then WB themselves do. WB is just awful in the department, god knows how Charlie got over 200m with that weird ass marketing.

The saddest thing is really, other then SR what other movie do they have left to give a nice marketing boost to? They already screwed up Poseidon. They basically have Lady & Lake House left. Im not hearing anything about either.

WB is going to bomb big time this summer. Poseidon looks to make under 30 million, Superman trailers are lackluster and not one peek at LAdy in the Water.

Oh yeah, of major studios, WB has the worst marketing department, by far. They messed up Ocean's Twelve too.
They can only market Harry Potter and the Matrix franchises well.

Yeah, awful job by WB. Superman could've had 250 mil, Poseidon 150 mil, Lady 125 mil. Instead Superman will get 180, Poseidon about 80, and Lady maybe 60. Ouch.

The marketing for The Matrix Revolutions was terrible though.

Don't forget how they screwed up in marketing Batman Begins as well. That had awful marketing and only the good film saved WB. They can't market for shit. New Line, on the other hand, has the best marketing department there is. Lionsgate isn't bad either considering they're a smaller company. They're especially good at marketing horror films.

Lions Gate is really #1 when it comes to horror marketing, it seems.

Terrible! They hyped up Matrix Reloaded to a HUGE degree (although the countless fans waiting for the sequel helped greatly) and just gave up on Revolutions

i dunno...w.b. is thre only studio to get 1 bill or more domestically in each of the last 6 years.
but yeah their marketing is not very good....which is horible cause they are the only studio who makes real good films. Batman begins, charlie chocolat factory, all the potters, were all waaay better then they shoulda been. give em to fox..theyll have more hype, but a much worse movie.

Sony is the best marketers by a long shot. They get demographic targeting more than anyone else, and their ads campaigns are always well polished and targeted.

HOOT was dumped. They just hoped they could salvage something by putting it in a lot of theaters.

I am not surprised. WB is dumb. They completely botched Batman Begins marketing overseas and even domestically the marketing was not very good.

Any effort from the marketing department could have achieved it a PTA over $3000...It's like that way with just about any children's movie.

If HOOT was dumped, then how come it opened in over 3000 theatres with a May release date.

You could say the same about New York Minute, which WB clearly dumped.

That's because they have had many huge franchise pics. But, they have been burning through them. Now they have Batman, Superman (which they may very well kill), Ocean's (on life support) and what's left of Harry Potter. Of all the tentpoles in 2007, only one really belongs to WB: HP5. They are generally left with the big budget films of successful directors, which they usually tend to mess up.

Yet, Stealth, xXx: State of the Union, Legend of Zorro, and I'd argue they limited Underworld: Evolution's opening as well.

Um, i think the reason why STEALTH, XXX, ZORRO on their own account, I just couldn't believe they were greenlighted. UNDERWORLD 2 opening is great but not spectacular, but considering the 1st wasn't exactly the best movie.
