"Sutherland says "The shoot will take place in London and Prague. Then we will use Morocco as a location - probably as an aspect of the Middle East. We'll do the filming a year from now."

Its expected the shoot will get underway March/April next year during the show's hiatus. This would put the film on course for a release either late 2007 or Summer 2008 - during or after the show's seventh season."

Actually, I am really interested in seeing this. Releasing it in 2007 might not be a good idea, though. It is overcrowded enough already.

They should release it in Summer 2008. Maybe in June right after the 7th season.

February 4th, to fit in with the "dates-used-for-marketing" trend, heh.

Prague is often used as a standin for other European cities since it's cheaper to film there. I wonder what city it is supposed to be this time.

Sutherland said it won't be.

Sutherland said it won't be.

Then that kinda ruins the novelty of a 24 movie, doesn't it? Without the real time, it's just another spy/action flick, albeit with Jack Bauer.

This is why I've been worried about a 24 movie. They couldn't do it in real time (two hours is not long enough for Jack to save the day) and without real time, it loses its originality as a 24 movie. Oh well, I'm sure it'll still be good.

In the long-ish interview I read in a magazine, Sutherland said that the series is not just about the real-time aspect anymore, but moreso about the character Jack Bauer which the movie will be about as well.

About a year ago Iread that initial plans were to have the first hour of the film run normally and the second hour in real time, but apparently that was scrapped.

Hmm. Sounds like its going to be a big budget episode of the tv show released in theaters.

Good for the fans though, so it's all good.

Well, Fox is officially moving forward with it:

"The clock is officially ticking down toward a 24 feature film, reports Variety.

Twentieth Century Fox has closed a deal with series creators Robert Cochran and Joel Surnow, as well as showrunner Howard Gordon, to bring the Kiefer Sutherland real-time thriller to the big screen.

Surnow and Cochran will write the script, with Gordon working on the story. All three will produce via their Real Time Productions, as will Imagine's Brian Grazer.

No talent deals are yet in place, though Sutherland -- an executive producer of the hit Fox series -- has made it clear he's interested in starring in the film should it snag a greenlight.

Cochran, Surnow and Gordon will begin work on the script late this summer, just as production on the sixth season of the TV series gets under way.

Executives at 20th should have a draft of the script in their hands by early winter. Once they see the script -- and look at ratings for the first few episodes of season six, which kicks off in January -- they'll be able to make a decision on greenlighting production of the film."

This is my most anticipated movie for the next two years!! Seeing Bauer on the big screen killing terrorists will be a dream come true. It would be great if it was rated R, but I'll bet it will be PG-13.

An R-rated 24 movie would kick ass. :shades:

Holy Christ, would it ever! Hearing Jack say the F-word just once in a DVD prequel was awesome. But, I'm more than certain that Fox will be eager to attract a big audience, so PG-13 is all but guaranteed.

Which ties in to my next question: will Fox use "24" in the title, despite the film not taking place over 24 hours? I would rather that they didn't, but in order to sell the fact that it's a "24" movie, I'm sure it'll be all but guaranteed that it'll be "24: [subtitle here]" or just "24: The Movie", which would suck.

They should just call it "Jack Bauer in 24"
