Post Update on Halloween 9
"The folks over at Moviehole have scored a chat with screenwriter Jake Wade Wall (WHEN A STRANGER CALLS) in which he drops all sorts of interesting news concerning the new HALLOWEEN movie.

"I’ve been hired three different times for it, and at times it was really exciting, and at other times, it really wasn’t. Then, with the whole Miramax debacle, everything kind of stopped on their franchises for a while. Having said that, it looks like it’s finally set to go. I know that they’re in the process of nailing down a really big director…but I haven’t been able to figure out who it is yet.

So what's it going to be about?

The self-confessed "amazing idea" he came up with for this latest film, "Halloween : The Missing Years", involves filling in the mislaid days of Michael Myers formative years... "This is about Michael. There will be new characters – new kids. And it will be set around Michael’s real home ‘Smith’s Grove’, which is where the asylum was, some 150 miles away from Haddonfield". "

You can only squeeze so much blood out of a turnip before it runs dry and in the case of HALLOWEEN, It's best days are long gone and an embarassment to even consider making another one with the whole "Prequel" Element going for this..

I think they could really nail this, but I really don't like the idea. I wanted some continuation after Resurrection, although it sucked. I don't really want a Smith's Grove type plot. I wanna see Michael, with the mask, killing everybody. This sounds like some really positive news, and it won't take much to top Halloween: Resurrection.

I can't wait for it :) Though the only ones I didn't like were three and six..the next one I shouldn't like is nine, but hopefully I'll enjoy it.

"a really big director"

I guess that counts out the previous front runner and my personal choice, Dante Tomaselli.

Also, this guy seems like a real douche. Not only did he pen When A Stranger Calls, but he's apparently egotistical as all get out.

Oh, and the idea's not that great.

Jake Wade Wall watched the first film, right? Maybe he took a bathroom break during the, "He didn't talk, he didn't cry... didn't even move" speech. I've put in a request for a mutual friend to swiftly kick Malek Akkad in the nuts, so that he comes to his senses.

And Makeshift, Dante Tomaselli has never even been considered for the job.

Was he just lobbying?

Either way, he'd be a good choice.

He was just lobbying. From what I heard he never even landed on Malek Akkad's radar.

I wouldnt be suprised if they are trying to Carpenter back. Afterall he has been on quite a hiatus and is trying to start back up again, perhaps Halloween might be the way. The plot could be very Carpenteresque, I mean just think of all crazy things that could go on inside Michael's head. This would also mean that they would need to recast Loomis, who was played by the staple of the Halloween series, more so then Curtis, Donald Pleasance.

My only gripe is that although this is an interesting idea, if he kills people inside the insane asylum, there has never been a discussion of it throughout the series. Loomis many times stated Michaels record. In fact even the crazy guy in Resurrection said it too.

I hope they wait until 2008 so they can do a 30 year anniversary. I think it would be big again, I mean, 2 entries per decade now aint too bad.

In all seriousness, Carpenter was lined up to direct Michael Vs. Pinhead. That wasn't a rumor -- Clive Barker was writing a script and John Carpenter was committed to direct, but Moustapha Akkad put the brakes on the whole thing, hating the idea.

They should have stopped with H20 8 years ago, which had a really good ending to the series, from what I remember... but money talks, as always... :|

Okay, so the official website posted on the 17th May that they have the official Halloween 9 press release, and they will show us that very, very soon. I honestly cannot wait. After having a look through the official website and the mini site's for each movie, i remember how much i love the franchise.

So, is there any truth at all in the casting news at iMdb.com?

Billy Dee Williams (Return of the Jedi, Batman)
Lindy Booth (Wrong Turn, Dawn of the Dead)
Rob Brown (Take The Lead, Coach Carter)
Alexa Karter (Black Christmas (2006), Case 39 (2007))
Bryce Inman

I was dissapointed when i read this, after the last 2 installments having a pretty known cast...

Halloween Resurrection:
Jamie Lee Curtis, Tyra Banks, Busta Rhymes, Sean Patrick Thomas, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Ryan Merriman.

Halloween H20:
Jamie Lee Curtis, Josh Hartnett, Michelle Williams, LL Cool J, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Adam Arkin.

So i am expecting a Hip Hop artist, and a couple of washed up-were teen movie stars. Really, i don't think they'll slump so low for the cast. They have to get at least 3 'names' in there.

I mean, what's keeping Bianca Kajlich so busy that she can't return for Halloween 9? Since 2002, she has done 3 tv shows. C'mon.

Possible 'washed up, dried up ex-teen 'IT' stars'
- Eliza Dushku
- Ali Larter
- Shannon Elizabeth
- Jason Biggs
- Mena Suvari

So, theres a couple.....doubt any of them will do Halloween 9, but it's all possible.
I mean, who wouldn't want to star along side Lil Jon or Chris Brown? Because you know it's inevitable.

Eliza Dushku never really amounted to much of star. Same with Ali Larter and the others you listed. It's easy to see why Shannon Elizabeth never did (She doesn't have any talent) but the others have at least shown something at one point or another.

I don't think there's any cast yet. I've heard Malek Akkad is excited about the director (which makes me afraid that Eli Roth is coming aboard), and apparently Jake Wade Wall's story isn't being used. Just what I've heard.

Probably a good thing Wall's isn't being used. He seems to think he's the best thing to happen to horror films like ever.
