I'm geeking out.
That art does bring up a point that bothered me while reading the three MEG novels...
Why would something that large ever bother eating humans? The megs in the novel eat whales and such and it always bothered me a bit whenever they ate humans. Doesn't make sense UNLESS the humans were on boats that were attacked and minced in the process. But surfers and swimmers, sort of silly.
But I'm geeking out.

i have a bad feeling that the disproportionate sizes may not make this film very good.

Well... don't whales eat like krill or something??
That looks awesome. I can't wait.

I posted a thread on this some time back.. Since then, they have removed that video..At least, I can'tseem to get it to run.. The concept art is cool, but the folks over at CHUD have started the whole nitpicking over The Law of Physics of that picture in the sense that based on that pic, this MEG would be disproportionate to the wave it's sticking out of and something THAT size would be pushing one hell of a wall of water at the same time.. Concept art doesn't do this justice and it's going to take an actual trailer or seeing this thing live to get a better reaction.. Right now, I think New Line Cinema is stalling on this with a reported budget of about 100 Million to make according to Nick Nunziata and waiting for them to give them the greenlight to make this.. Script's done, but don't know what the holdup is..

But you see, plankton are part of their diet. Humans aren't part of Megaldons.
Regardless, I understand the narrative's need to pit humans vs the megaldons.
And I'm geeking out.

Hmmm, that is "not true" basically because humans were not living when Megalodons were, so we wouldn't know whether they are part of their diet.

Since humans were not in the environment Meg usually hunts in, it can't be a natural part of their diet. As they are driven to the surface, perhaps humans became a substitute, though. Thats how I always justify stuff like this

So would Meg be getting an R rating. I never read the novel so I dont know if the description is gory at all. The shark genre is so unpredictable when it comes to rating since Jaws was rated PG while Deep Blue Sea is rated R

Well, PG-13 didn't exist when Jaws came out....
Then again, if Jaws came out today, I think it'd have got an R-rating.

If adapted as written in the novels by Steve Alten, it would get a R.
But I think a PG-13 is in store.

Somehow I dont doubt that at all. Whats funny is that movies that received R rating in the past is so tame now that they probably would of gotten away with PG-13. Jaws I think would be the only one that received a PG would of gotten a R rating today

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom might be another.

Nope, its under the action advenure genre so therefore the MPAA would exempt it from getting a R rating. It might be pushing it with the heart scene but I think it would fall along the line of LOTR in bordering over that edge

Now explain to me why JAWS would garner an R-Rating??? I mean really, the movie didn't have but 3 deaths and aside from Quint's demise, it was more implied and left up to the imagination with very little shown that would be more PG-13 than an R-Rating.. Plus, I don't recall there being any Profanity in JAWS to get an R-Rating either..

It might be pushing it with the heart scene but I think it would fall along the line of LOTR in bordering over that edge Indiana really pushed the boundries of the traditional rating system. See below: Quote: In 1984, two films associated with Steven Spielberg triggered calls for yet another addition to the list of ratings. [1] Violent scenes in the PG-rated films Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (which he directed) and Gremlins (which he produced), were the catalyst. Public outcry about the violence led Spielberg to suggest a new PG-13 rating to Jack Valenti, who conferred with theater owners and then introduced the new rating on July 1. The rating still allowed children under 13 to be admitted without a parent or guardian, but it cautions parents about potentially shocking violence or other offensive content. The first movie to gain widespread theatrical release with a PG-13 rating was 1984's Red Dawn (although the first to receive the classification was The Flamingo Kid). It took a year for the PG-13 logo to shift into its current form.

This looks fantastic, i am mega, mega, hyped for this movie...excuse the pun :S
Really, the artwork, and that video are fantastic, and shark movies are a personal favourite.
Jaws- $260,000,000
Jaws 2- $81,766,007
Deep Blue Sea- $73,648,142
Jaws 3- $45,517,055
Open Water- $30,610,863
Finding Nemo ($339,714,978) and Shark Tale ($160,861,908) are included on BOM's list.
I think MEG will fall between JAWS 2 and SHARK TALE.
Hopefully, successful enough to warrant a sequel, and make this list of shark movies more interesting.
