 Child's Play
Child's Play Quote: Child's Play is a 1988 American horror film written by Don Mancini and directed by Tom Holland. The film was released on November 9, 1988 and stars Catherine Hicks, Chris Sarandon and Brad Dourif. The official tagline of the film was "You'll Wish it Was Only Make-Believe."
The film met with moderate success upon its release, and has since developed a cult following among fans of the horror genre. The film is the first in the Child's Play film series and was the only film in the series released by MGM/UA, as the rights to the series were sold to Universal beginning with Child's Play 2. In 2008, a remake of the film was discussed and slated for a 2011 release, but other conflicting sources state no remake is planned. LOVE this movie.

a guilty pleasure of mine. it seems a bit cheesy and silly when i watch it now, but Chucky used to creep me out when i was a kid, especially the part where andy's mom sees chucky has no batteries and he whips his head around and is like "HI I'M CHUCKY WANNA PLAY!!!?"

I like it. It's definitely a guilty pleasure, and Chucky is a very hysterical character.

 Re: Child's Play
I was just watching this for the first time in forever on Cinemax. It holds a lot of great memories of me as a kid. The first time I saw it I was six I think. I remember renting it and watching it in my dads bedroom and being totally scared and he made fun of me. It obviously isn't terrifying now by any means and the dialogue isn't great, but the movie as a whole works. It does have it's creepy parts and it's hella entertaining. 8/10On a related note, when I was younger I found the second one even scarier. I haven't seen that one since I was a kid (I think I actually only saw it once). I remember I watched that one the same night as I watched the original Halloween, talk about traumatizing. I'll have to watch that again, I saw it was on Netflix.

The thing I liked the most at first was you didn't know if it was Chucky or Andy for the first film. A very effective creepy, almost Stephen King like story. But it also only works because of Brad Dourif. Without him, I'm sure this series would have never have been as memorable, or go on for as long.
