Todo sobre mi madre [All About My Mother]
All About My Mother Quote: All About My Mother (Spanish: Todo sobre mi madre) is a 1999 Spanish drama film written and directed by Pedro Almodóvar. The film deals with complex issues such as AIDS, transvestitism, faith, and existentialism.
The plot originates in Almodóvar's earlier film The Flower of My Secret which shows student doctors being trained in how to persuade grieving relatives to allow organs to be used for transplant, focusing on the mother of a teenager killed in a road accident.

Wanted to see it for a while. Watched it today.
I thought it was pretty charming and a bit moving, but I thought Almodovar had a much stronger, more passionate hand in Bad Education.

Superb movie.... everything is top notch, as expected with an Almodovar production....
While I prefer Bad Education to this, All About My Mother is well established amongst my favorite films of all time.

I thought it was pretty good, though I liked Talk to Her and Bad Education a whole lot better. I found it really engaging, just not as effective as I hoped. Cast's great, though. (now I'm really excited to see Volver since I really liked Cruz here...)

A-
After this and Volver, I think I like Almodovar quite a bit. Thought it was wonderful. That film was more fun, while I thought this had a stronger sense of filmmaking and emotional connectoin, and is probably a better film overall.
Very good cinematography in here, he clearly knows what he is doing. Cecila is very strong, as is Penelope, the girl who played Agrado, and most of the cast. Just enjoyed spending time with these women, it connected well with me. The son's death scene was very strong, as was Rosa's descent into her final moments. Glad it abandoned the Eve and Streetcar recreating about halfway through the movie, nothing wrong with some film reference but going in his own original route was a very good idea.

This is the movie that turned me off Almodovar for a decade. It was only through luck that I took a chance on his awesome Volver last year.
If your an Almodovirgin -- for God's sake, man -- don't taint your love like I did, by giving All About Your Mother your Pedrocherry...
