There's no way this will have less than a $40M OW, bare minimum. In fact, I'd say that DVC could come darn close to having $30M just on Friday alone.

Okay, so if that many people are not going to see MI3 and Poseiden, then this just means that DVC will have even more than expected. I think OWq will now be closer to 80.

I higher it cause its now a very weak market and something people have to go and see. But i still think.....when they stay close to the book and they deliever not more the WOM will not be that great and the movie will fall like " Actually nice movie but you dont have it to see..it wasnt that great".

So the new prediciton is not based on the faith in the movie Da Vinci its more based on the hyper marketing and the pressure of folks who want to see any movie.

But I still dont believe that the movie will be something special or extra fine what would justify the gross alone.

I'd say you're kidding, but I know you're not. You expecting a $100 million weekend?

I'd say a $25 million Friday, roughly.

The newest trailers/TV spots are showing more stuff to really excite me, yet is still keeping a tight lid. I'm still iffy about Ron Howard, but I have to admit that the film is actually.... looking... good. Man, I'm torn. I've sorta been badmouthing this film, but now it just looks too good to miss.

In any event, the marketing has been brilliant, the exposure is HUGE, and the tracking is HUGE. I see at least a $70 million opening now, and only weeks ago I was thinking a below $50 million opening. There is just too much to ignore now.

PEACE, Mike.

NICE AVATAR MIKE! I think there's a thread that might interest you, tucked away....

Don't know the theatre count, but the PTA is going to be tops. As soon as the estimates come in, I'm going to take a final guess. This will be huge however, have no doubt.

That would bring a 100m OW at the worst.

That's the kind of optimism we need.

160m between the two openers.

I'll tell you this as well. The world is screaming for this film. This is about as anti-bible and anti- Catholic as you can get. And there are a lot of people in this world that don't like organized religion, namely the Catholic churhc and the power that it wields. The DVC is really the first film of its kind. The kind of film that has the Catholic church not only demanding that the film be pulled, but they are doing their spin doctoring by putting otu these ostenibly non-partisan specials on TV that denounce the DVC as poppycock. This has done nothing but given the film free publicity. With so much apathy and even moreso, so much anger towards religion, this film will have a built in audience in teh same way that SW or LOTR does. People will come out in droves to see the film and it will have great legs also.

Lol!

BOM poll:

When will you see 'The Da Vinci Code?'
56.7% Opening Weekend
21.4% Sometime in Theaters

10.3% Never
9.3% On DVD
2.3% On TV
707 users polled.

Super super strong number.

I see $26m on Friday since Sony isn't doing any midnight showings, and that's a smart idea as the audience is planning to flood the theaters on Saturday and Sunday anyway. I don't expect that high of frontloadedness toward Friday. It'll have above 3.0 IM.

I'm predicting this movie to fall flat on it's face and be nothing more than an overrated novel adaptation and that it's not gonna change the world's views if Catholic one way or another..

Yoyu can't buy better publicity than the film has. All the religious loonies are making people want to see it even more.

I'm starting to believe in DP07's 100 million chants, I mean the buzz for this thing is insane.

I'll say 85 mil+ for now though.

Threadkiller on BOM posted that the Churches are advising their flock to watch Over the Hedge instead of The Da Vinci Code. Does anybody here have any information on that? I don't think that makes any differnce in how big DVC will be overall.

If people don't listen when it comes to things like sex, divorce, lying, etc. what makes anyone think they will listen to advice regarding movies?

What if Over the Hedge has underlying elements of homoeroticism and sado-masochism?

I think like Webby that Poseidon could still get to 300-400M or better from its domestic and overseas grosses, meaning profit is still to be made even before home video revenue is tallied.

And the quote above was posted today. This guy is the biggest liar. He will make up facts and states data without any factual backup. He is a third rate joke.

For all his faults, threadkiller at least always backs up his data with facts. His hatred for DVC is hilarious though.

Then they will probably advise the parishoners to watch See No Evil. ;)

He made his mind up about DVC long time ago. His point of view on DVC is very irrational.

No, you're right.
