I think $500 million is possible. Not $600 million, but certainly $500 million.

well, 300 million isnt a lock and i dont think ever will be a lock for any film ever again after reloaded didnt get to it. adn BKB totally just took himself out of the argument because he showed how opinionated he is. its not superman, he just hates DC and wants their movies to do worse then marvel ones.

he dont think x3 will beat superman due being better film with better marketing, he thinks it cause thats what he wants to happen. SUPERMAN FLOPS...dude what about x3? what will you say when xmen drop 60+% in its second week? "oh superman will due more with pirates in its second"....magnus, x3s potential is no where near 275 million. i doubt x3 could pass 250 million simply because of the marketign strategy fox is going with. x1 and x2 were money shot filled, action packed trailers and tv spots and had eye catching posters. fox told variety theywere taking a different approach-similar to batman begins-by marketing it as "dark and somber". so just take a note, this one wont build hype as easy as the others did.i see a top out around 240 million and thats just assuming its an amazing movie.

ive said in superman thread if the marketing is batman begin quality, superman might not topple 250 million. its just that when VARIETY is saying superman marketing budget is 75 million (and common sens can inform us they might have spent about 5 million of that), with promo partners-and big ones-up the ass, toy and merchandise sales out the door, nd then over 1500 special effects shots to imcorporated into its tv spots, its pretty easy to get the idea that this movie will be a *pretty* big deal when it comes out. wether the big is 250 million big or 300 million has yet to be answered, but its superman. hes always huge. so right now im going with 300 million.A movie with a marketing that huge that is close to release HAS to get 200 million or else it is the worst film of the year. Pirates 2 will be massive yess, but in reality that has nothing to due with superman. yeah superman might open to 100 million and make 45 million in its second weekend as opposed to 55 million, but superman will have made up for that AND THEN SOME with its inflated SUNDAY MONDAY TUESDAY grosses.

Yes, I do feel DC Comics Suck next to MARVEL, primarily because the characters in the MARVEL world have flashier personalities and the only character from DC I tolerate is BATMAN.. I enjoyed SUPERMAN back in the late 70's and actually read the Death of SUPERMAN which should've been THIS movie, not another origin film.. Really, when it comes right down to it, WB hasn't done a very stellar job in Marketing a film due out in 2 Months.. No dialogue from Routh and really no significant $$$ Shot and the same ol same ol shown on the Web.. Mark my word on this: X3 Will OWN SUPERMAN RETURNS with Bryan Singer buring his head in his hands wondering WHY he gave up the reigns of the X-MEN franchise in favor of making a SUPERMAN movie no one really is excited for.. Call it the Christopher Reeve Effect if you will..

If this ended up being a whole death of Superman trilogy my fanboy biased meter would probably be just as high as excel, hell I would probably say 400m is a lock.

At one time, it was supposed to be The Death of SUPERMAN, but somehow that fell through the cracks.. Today's FX would've made that look very cool and probably very expensive putting DOOMSDAY together right..

This one seems pretty easy to predict, actually:

Opening Weekend: $90 million / $112.5 million
Total: $240 million

There's a 7-minute preview for this tonight at 8:30 EST, right before the series finale of That 70's Show on FOX.

Apparently, X3's running time is 103 minutes. If that's true, I guess it's good for box-office as there'll be more showtimes, but I hoped it'd be a little longer than that.

i REALLY REALLY hope that is wrong. I know that i am grasping at straws or whatever, but 1 hour and 43 minutes is not nearly long enough. Please be wrong. Please be wrong. Maybe they mean 143 mintues, that could be it, right? I feel all those negative feelings returning, like when it was announced that Ratner was the director. Please be longer, please be longer.

It's not confirmed. That's the running time listed on the Cannes Film Festival website.

And I honestly don't see why the film would be that much longer than that.

Sure, it may not be THE EXACT running time, but...don't expect anything much longer than that.

It'll actually be 1 Hour and 43 Minutes stretched to the 2 Hour mark by 17 Minutes worth of credits to make it 2 Hours..

Action is nice and all, but what made X2 so great was the emotion and investment behind it all. It wasn't just mindless action scenes, there were characters we cared about and actual storylines. If cutting things "for time" is the case, then why would they do that? X2 managed a colossal opening and a 215mil total in spite of its 130min+ running time.

All i can say is my anticipation level just fell a few notches. X3 has been quite the rollercoaster ride, and it hasn't even been released yet. I found out it was being made and i was happy, Singer left and that sucked, then Vaughn was going to direct and i was pretty okay with that, then he left and Ratner was hired. That was some awful day. Then i saw the teaser, then the trailer, and the tv spots and my hope was rekindled. I was excited to see it again, and was really into it until i read that 103mil running time. I like longer movies, especially longer "action" movies. Aliens and T2 were 2 1/2 hrs, and they are the 2 best action movies ever. X2 was 2 hrs and 15min, and it was easily in my top 20.

I feel like i did when i found out T3 was only 105min, but i actually liked T3 a lot, so here's hoping i love X3.

Atleast it'll be a short mess of a rush job film, instead of a long one

You know?? I've been thinking alot about the prospects of this movie really being a mess and you know, I'm not so certain about that anymore and have a feeling that this movie really might be the Best of the 3, if you can believe that.. :-k I don't know what it is, but maybe it has to do with Ratner catching as much heat as he has been for really no good reason at all.. He's not that bad of a director and there are far worse you know that could've been attached to this final movie.. Will see I guess in about a month..
