Strange Days
Strange DaysQuote: Strange Days is a 1995 cyberpunk science fiction film directed by Kathryn Bigelow and produced and co-written by James Cameron and Jay Cocks, starring Ralph Fiennes, Angela Bassett, Juliette Lewis, Tom Sizemore, Michael Wincott and Vincent D'Onofrio. Despite positive reviews, the film was a commercial failure, earning only a fraction of its production cost in its domestic release. The film has garnered a cult following over the years for its dystopian and cyberpunk themes.

Strange Days borders on greatness, but never quite makes it there. An interesting concept and very good performances by Ralph Fiennes and Angela Bassett don't quite cut it, but it comes close. Watching this (and it's been a while), you can't help but feel disappointment at how great a career Angela Bassett could have had. She's has a powerful star presence in this as usual. My grade: B.

It's an excellent film and an underrated gem. It's a great blend of sci-fi and an old-fashioned noir-thriller. It features on of Ralph Fiennes' best performances. Visually, it is a blast and there are pretty much all ingredients in there that make a movie good to me. Too bad it went down at the box-office. Great great stuff.

Re: Strange Days
It's too bad the incredible style and terrific ideas are undercut by the horribly generic story. I blame Cameron.
Still, it's better than most sci-fi flicks these days.

Re: Strange Days
Ralph Fiennes at the time looks a bit like Bradley Cooper now.
