Zoolander

Quote:
Zoolander is a 2001 American comedy film directed by and starring Ben Stiller. The film contains elements from a pair of short films directed by Russell Bates and written by Drake Sather and Stiller for the VH1 Fashion Awards television specials in 1996 and 1997. The short films and the movie feature Derek Elijah Zoolander, a dimwitted male model played by Ben Stiller. The film involves Zoolander becoming a pawn in a plot to assassinate the Prime Minister of Malaysia by corrupt fashion executives.

Pretty funny movie. Nothing special, though. B-

Works the dumb angle better than any movie maybe ever. Tons of funny. The actors all take their characters and sprint with them. Its Stiller's trademark role, and in years unless he does something extraordinary he'll be remembered as Zoolander. Owen Wilson also pulls off Hanson. Possibly best of all is Will Ferrell, as Mugatu the villian piece. The movie is filled with montage moments and quotable lines, all and all a very enjoyable flick. Best dumb comedy ever? Maybe.

This is the absolutely one of the best, if not best post 2000 comedies. I love Ben sTiller and Owen in this one. They are perfect and it is so well written. One of my faves.

BLUE STEEL!!!!

10/10

This movie is rather odd. I actually hated it the first time I saw it, but I watched it again recently in the company of some friends and found it hilarious.

"What is this, a center for ants? How can the children learn to read if they can't even fit inside the building?!"

"In high school, I was...bulemic."
"You can read minds?!"

Oh geesh. I loved this movie. This is one of those repeat viewers that never gets too stale because its over-the-top and sympathetic at the same time. Great pacing, great one liners, just good fun all around. As much as Stiller has tried to mimick this formula in his proceeding movies, it never quite reached this height again.

One of the best comedies released in the new millenium. Its down right funny, and you often feel embarrased for them. Ben Stiller is terrific in the role of ZOolander, as is everyone else. This movie is filled with quotable lines that could never get old.(NOT LIKE THAT DAMN NAPOLEON DYNAMITE!)

B. Not Wilson or Stiller's best but it has some good moments. I found it amusing how the lead girl ends up with the superficial model and not with the more worthy, nice coworker who dotes on her. I'm not sure if that was intended to make her character look superficial in a funny way but that is how I took it.

Alright! There's hope for Libs yet!

Maybe with the support of your friends you will grow to love the low comedy genre!

(No surprise here. but I was a big fan when it came out - I kept dragging friends and family members to let them see how funny it was!)

I hated it the first time I saw it in theaters, but now it's one of my favorite movies.

Sorry, but I couldn't see much humor in this one. I like Owen Wilson and the cameos were great, but Ben Stiller simply can't make me laugh most of the time. The same goes for Meet the Parents and most of his other movies I have seen (except Dodgeball). Duchovny's appearance was great as well as certain dialogue, but all the rest fell flat.

Watched this for the first time since I saw it in 2001 (where I didn't like that all that much...), and I think most are right...this movie is hilarious.

I was kinda surprised on how hard I laughed during this film. There's, like, a million memorable lines in this film. Zoolander really, really grows on you. I'd suggest that everyone who didn't like it a while ago check it out again. It's a blast to watch. A personal favorite line:

"Rufus, Brint, and Meekus were like brothers to me. And when I say brother, I don't mean, like, an actual brother, but I mean it like the way black people use it. Which is more meaningful I think."

And, everyone already mentioned the 'a building for ants' line, so I won't repeat it again. Heh. BTW, the reaction to "Magnum" in the film is sheer brilliance. BRILLIANCE.

I'd give this an A- now. Just great, original, and gut-busting hilarious.
