Vampires
VampiresQuote: Vampires (also known as John Carpenter's Vampires) is a western-horror film directed by John Carpenter in 1998. Adapted from the novel Vampire$ by John Steakley, the film stars James Woods as Jack Crow, leader of a Catholic Church-sanctioned team of vampire hunters. The plot is centered on Crow's efforts to prevent a centuries-old cross from falling into the hands of Valek, a master vampire. Vampires also stars Daniel Baldwin, Sheryl Lee, Thomas Ian Griffith, Tim Guinee and Maximilian Schell. Two sequels followed: Vampires: Los Muertos in 2002 and Vampires: The Turning in 2005. Fun vampire movie, and a billion times better than Ghost of Mars.

Being better than GFM is nothing to brag about...they are both shit movies.

Angry, flesh-craving demons would emerge from Hell's deepest, darkest fires to take you back down to their flaming abyss and feast upon you.
Well, either that, or people will shake their heads in disgust and/or confusion.
For the record, Vampires is just horrible, and worse than that derivative mediocrity Ghosts of Mars.

Now this is one of the most enjoyable vamopire flicks ever made (#1 is still From Dusk Till Dawn) and to me it also marks the short return of John Carpenter to a genre he's so good at. I enjoy pretty much everything about this movie and I find it immensly rewatchable. James Woods is great in his tough-as-nails role. The villain is a bit lacking, I admit that, but still the movie's great and gory fun.

James Woods + Vampires + copious amounts of blood + one of the best opening theme's ever = cinematic bliss.
I'll even forgive the fact that the main vampire looks like a bizarre reject from a 80s European Goth band.

I totally forgot about that. The whole hotel massacre was brilliant.

I like this movie quite a bit. It's a little hokey at times, but its one of the more inventive vampire pics to come out since From Dusk Til Dawn. It's bloody, and James Woods is pretty good. I found the disposal of Vampires in the beginning to be pretty good, though I always found the use of metal to be a little weird, why not just use wood? But I guess the purpose was Metal was stronger then wood so they could pull them out of the building better.

Carpenter's 90s were certainly more for cult audiences then ever before.

Love it. Probably my favorite vampire movie if you exclude Underworld.

John Carpenter's Vampires
One of the best vampire movies ever made. In the mix with From Dusk Till Dawn and Underworld. James Woods is what sells it for me, he's just awesome, and he takes over much like he did in The Specialist.
