There is No way this opens below 30 million even with the paltry opening of MI3. This is one of the "Event" films of this summer. This is another bet I'd put money on without a doubt.

Under.
Really, I don't think people care too much about this movie right now. Tracking low, buzz low. It's got less than 10 on the Yahoo Buzz Chart, and has been constantly 4-5 on moviefone. Appearing on there means it won't bomb obviously, but I see a $6500-$7000 PTA or so at this point. I'm thinking about a 23-24 mil weekend.

A quick look at the join dates of the posters disproves that.

It's surprising actually. I expected a lot mkore to say that it won't cross $30 million opening weekend.
I still think it will be close. It should make around $10-11 million on Friday.

If marketing had been better I would have said over 40. I've been looking forward to this movie and I even forgot it was coming out next weekend. Hopefully it can still manage 30 though. At least it will be no. 1 over the weekend.

I think it will get 5-6m more than MI3. So my prediction is: Poseidon 31-32m, MI3 25-26m. And I'd like to see a good drop for United 93 as well!

Under. I think tracking will be close. If too low it won't be by much, upper 20s max IMO.

Okay, I'll elaborate for the totals:
Great WOM - $110m
Good WOM - $100m
Bad WOM - $90m
Uwe Boll bad WOM - $50m (not as high of an opening, obviously)

All of my movie friends can't wait, I rarely see them all in comparison. I know a lot of people that love this type of film. I'm sticking with my 55 million opening.

I'm thinking that this will suprise in a good way. I see around a 35-38m opening, and possibly higher. I would never underestimate a disaster movie's potential.

I really don't know. Yes, it's a disaster film, but it doesn't have the scope of say Day After Tomorrow, and it certainly doesn't have the latter movie's marketing. Could go anywhere from $25-50 million, I think. Depends just HOW intrigued the public is by the scale of the movie, which seems kind of dodgy, so I'm starting to lean towards under $30 million.

Yes, but this is no The Core. Its now the summer season, these are the types of flicks that do well. Its mindless, and whether you guys admit it or not, it had one of the better reviewed trailers of the year. Although, its not massive, its not looking like a bomb either. So Get on board, and get tossed, just like the actors

I don't see any buzz on this despite tons of ads on TV. I wonder if people will be waiting for Da Vinci Code next week (I know I am).
