 Dnevnoy dozor [Day Watch]
Day Watch Quote: Day Watch (Russian: Дневной дозор, Dnevnoy dozor, a.k.a. Night Watch 2: The Chalk of Fate), is a 2006 Russian dark fantasy action film marketed as "the first film of the year", opened in theatres across Russia on January 1, 2006, the U.S. on June 1, 2007 and the UK on October 5, 2007. It is a sequel to the 2004 film Night Watch, featuring the same cast. It is based on the second and the third part of Sergey Lukyanenko's novel The Night Watch rather than its follow-up novel Day Watch. The film's budget was USD$4.2 million. Fox Searchlight paid $2 million to acquire the worldwide distribution rights (excluding Russia and the Baltic states) of this film. This film grossed $31.9 million at the Russian box office alone.

This is really an improvement over the first film. The storyline is clearer. It still has almost nothing to do with the source materail anymore, but it is interesting by itself and the film's running time of over two hours certainly benefits it a lot, as more things can be explained and the characters have more development. It is also more fun than the first flick.
Sadly, it departs from the novel way too much and the decisions made there are not all wise. There are several quite ridiculous scenes that seem to be in the movie just for the sake of it and I really wasn't a big fan of the deus ex machina ending.

 Re: Day Watch
FLat out boring, very confusing and feLt Like a 3 1/2 hour fiLm that you've been dying for it to end. HeLL, I'd even give it a D grade if it wasn't for the good visuaLs, action and stuff; and it couLd have been more watchabLe if the pLot was simpLer.

Marginally better than the first movie (mostly due to a clearer and more focused story and characters, but it's still very mish mashy). Still everything I said for Nochnoy dozor can be applied for Dnevnoy dozor.
