Maybe they are just hiding the quality of the movie. Heck even movies that get dissed by critics like Van Helsing, Resident Evil:Apocalypse and Blade Trinity gave critics screenings for the movie. The only ones from last year off the top of my head that didnt get screened were Anacondas, Paparratzi, and Alien Vs Predator. Are they impying the quality of the movie is as bad as the three I mentioned? I know it probably wont affect the opening but it will affect its WOM

Yeah, that's definently a bad sign. I doubt it'll be a bad movie, but it'll probably effect the movie's legs. This weekend is all it has now, so it better do really well, or else...

Well this is a bad sign because it gaurentees bad reviews. Critics get pissed at movies that do this. Personally I think its funny and a good move if you know how the reviews will be.

Anyone know the budget on this film? Similar to DareDevil's $70 million?

Look, Ladies and Gentlemen, May I recommend that you all make up your OWN minds when seeing this movie Elektra or any other movie for that matter and not give a goddamn whether or not the Elite Film Snob Movie Critics choose to review these movies or not??? Who cares??? Hell, AVP didn't get any critic screenings and look how much this movie made in it's opening weekend??? 40 Million goddamn dollars and did so without any critic screenings and would've done so anyway whether it was screened or not and the same thing could very well happen to Elektra to, but not likely since it's not as popular as the 2 Franchise names, ALIEN and PREDATOR are.. Critics only review what they want to review and not what's popular to the average moviegoer who doesn't need to have there hands held in deciding what's good and what isn't... One Man's trash is another Man's treasure folks and in this case, what the critics consider to be potential trash will be a treasure to the average moviegoer who doesn't give a flying fuck what these critics think.. Thank You and now moving right along here to the next thread.. =D>

Yeah, my brother was able to get into a public screening early, which worked as he would have not seen it a second time were there a screening for the press. He gave it an F and said it was not only WORSE then Catwoman, but up there with Batman and Robin bad. Though he did like the comic relief black bad guy whose fighting style is composed around break dancing.

The second reviewer I've heard from agreed: It's even worse then Catwoman.

I agree (mostly with BKB) that people should make up their own minds. Who thought this was going to get great reviews to begin with?

It's not that Elektra's reviews are simply not very good. They're absolutely awful.

That's harsh! I didn't think it was possible for anything to be as worse as Catwoman. I think I might wait for the discount theatre for this one, just like White Noise.

You know Pink?? The mere fact that you'd be willing to wait til WHITE NOISE goes to some dollar theatre indicates to me that you have an interest in seeing this movie somewhat, whether you save a few bucks doing so or not, so why not just catch it this weekend instead of waiting for it to go to a $1.00 Show??? What difference does it make whether you spend 6.00 dollars at a Rush Hour or Matinee VS A $1.00 Show??? What's 5.00 Bucks??? WHITE NOISE is certainly worth more than a $1.00 Dollar show :-k

Now, as for "Elektra" being worse than "Catwoman"??? Does anyone REALLY believe that for a moment or do you think that maybe, just MAYBE this has to do more with seeing once again who can tear this movie to shreds and outdo one another in there scathing reviews of it??? :-k

Woah woah woah, my older brother went in there expecting some good, albeit dumb, fun. He liked Reign of Fire and didn't despise Daredevil. He told me about his thoughts way before I'd heard any others.

Well, BKB I am a very openminded person. I don't care about reviews, there are a lot more other movies that I want to see right now than White Noise, so I'm waiting for it to get to the dollar theatre. I missed Ray, and I recently saw that at the dollar theatre. It's not only the bad films I see at the dollar theatre you know. I will see anything, just to get out of the house for a few hours, and if it is a bad I don't give a shit, because all I spent was a buck, and in the end it is no big deal, at least I got to do something right? \:D/

I hate when people say make up your mind about a movie, dont let others do it for you. Because of the fact I dont have time to see every movie that comes out nor do I want to pay for them, so if I hear a movie is good from friends and critics then i'll go see it or if I have interest in it i'll go see it, but if people tell me a movie is horrible why the hell do I have to waste my money and time to see it? Obviously everyone has an opinion and different taste, but I just listen to what the Majority has to say about a movie before I decide to see it, usally it pays off. In 04' i've probably only seen 2-3 movies I didnt like.

Why??? Because there really is alot of good movies out that the internet world seems more incessant on tearing apart to make themselves sound smarter and sound like Expert Film Critics when in fact, THERE NOT.. I've seen an awful lot of movies get torn to shreds in the worst possible way like this movie Elektra is currently receiving saying it's so Godawful, it's worst than Catwoman when in fact, these movie are not as bad as they make em out to be..... WHITE NOISE is one of these love it/hate it type of movies that when you read the reviews and see the movie itself, it's not as bad as internet users make it out to be.. It's just not, and I think it boils down to the fact that Internet Film Elitist are the hardest users to please cause there to goddamn busy dissecting the who, what, where, when, and why out of movie and almost dissecting it to the point of dissecting the fun out of it.. Once again, you decide if you like the movie or not and not let others hold your hand for you in deciding whether somethings good or not..

I dont know really if White Noise is a love or hate movie, i've been hearing alot of people just say its average ( not bad but not that good ) A movie like The Village is a love or hate movie i'd say. But thats beside the case if a movie is love or hate then well thats different then movies that are completely horrible ( Catwoman, Taxi, etc ) those are the movies I try to stay away from, if I hear mixed things about a movie i'll make up my mind if I wanna see it by thinking if I have really any interest in it. I have an open mind when it comes to movie, i'd see any type, they just have to be good ;) Also you say the internet users are the ones that are hard to please and have different opinions then the casual movie goers, but everyone uses the internet nowadays, casual movie goers post thoughts on movies everywhere, mostly Yahoo, theres really no difference between the publics opinion and internet users, seeing as the public people are the ones using the internet.

Nobody here was expecting great reviews for the movie but even the most trashed movies gets some screenings for the critics. Maybe its Fox studio is really worried about the bad reviews for the movie that they are delaying the screenings. Normally for stuff to happen like that is because they had a previous screening that went bad like MovieDudes' brother reaction. Oh well I'll still see it on saturday

I agree, but for a different reason. When somebody asks you to "decide for yourself," they are really asking you to gamble money. Whether or not you liked the movie, the studio still has your 8 bucks. So of course they want you to "decide for yourself" instead of reading a review for free.

I'm not suffering through another Catwoman headache. If Elektra's that bad, I'm walking out of the theater twenty minutes it.

Exactly, why not just wait and see if WOM is good, read a few reviews and go see it Saturday if it looks good.

You know whats wierd? The early reviews of Elektra TOTALLY conflict with each other. The one you linked to says its visually disasterous and cliched, another review i read said it was seemingly only there FOR the visuals and its characters inner growth.

In the linked review it also said the CGI is some of the worst in modern day cinema. Yet http://www.killermoviereviews.com/main. ... &subLinks= says that Elektra has some great CGI shots...

The early reports from users on IMDB from the premiere are pretty positive to ok. But i never really expected Elektra to get good reviews, but if it dosent beat Catwomans 9%/11% then ill eat my hat.

For once i agree with BKB, the content in the trailer alone was far better than Catwomans exessive marketing had to offer - and i refuse to believe that a film with the ultra-charismatic [and proven filmsaver] Jennifer Garner can be worse than that. The film looks martial arts supercool, and whilst its not going to be action movie revolutionisation - it looks very entertaining from the clips ive seen and the trailers too.
