X-men? I guess it's deserving, though I don't even think its in the top 3 best comic-book films of all time.

It's third on my list, so.....

I find Spider-Man incredibly overrated. Burton's Batmans didn't do a lot for me. What else is left?

Hmm, I thought X-Men had enough fun, and Spidey 2 had way too much angst. Not to mention that Tobey Maguire can't act worth shit.

We at least agree on the top two, though.

Great list I've seen every movie so far, which is a departure from Argos' list.

Good list so far, you and me have a lot of the same tastes Trixter. We just have too many dam films we love.

Exorcist III is very good, the hospital death is probably a top 5 suspenseful moment of all time. Though the ending and the reshoots hurt it for me.

I agree with a lot so far, but I'm just not that big a fan of animated films to put them in my top 100.

80. RETURN OF THE JEDI (Richard Marquand, 1983)

"Well, short help is better than no help at all."

It's the weakest of the original trilogy, mostly because it turns into too much of a kid's film with the inclusion of the Ewoks, but it's still miles ahead of the prequels. Everything in the Emperor's throne room is classic and Darth Vader's final character turn is absolutely perfect. Luke is much less annoying in this film and the sequence on the sail barge is pure entertainment. A worthy conclusion to the second-best trilogy of all time.

79. GATTACA (Andrew Niccol, 1997)

"For someone who was never meant for this world, I must confess I'm suddenly having a hard time leaving it. Of course, they say every atom in our bodies was once part of a star. Maybe I'm not leaving... maybe I'm going home."

A science fiction film with a heart and a message, and one that is coming closer to reality every day. Though it's fairly low-budget, its vision is still powerful, achieved not by flashy effects or expensive sets but by the story and characters. Jude Law is terrific in what is probably his best role, and the dialogue is eloquent without being pretentious. Truly underrated.

78. JURASSIC PARK (Steven Spielberg, 1993)

"All major theme parks have delays. When they opened Disneyland in 1956, nothing worked.
But, John, if the Pirates of the Caribbean breaks down, the pirates don't eat the tourists."

Once upon a time, this was my favourite film. It's fallen a bit since then, but it's still one of my favourites. Fantastic action, great-looking dinosaurs, likeable characters, and an ample dose of comedy. Jeff Goldblum is hilarious. The first T-Rex scene is still one of the best action sequences in film history.

77. SLEEPY HOLLOW (Tim Burton, 1999)

"Their heads were not found severed. Their heads were not found at all."

Burton's last great film. Beautiful cinematography and sets, spooky music, terrific visuals, and a suitably interesting story. Depp is great and the supporting cast is impressive. The perfect Halloween film.

76. AIRPLANE! (Jim Abrahams + David Zucker + Jerry Zucker, 1980)

"You got a letter from headquarters this morning."
"What is it?"
"It's a big building where generals meet, but that's not important."

The best spoof movie. Utterly hilarious from start to finish; furthermore, it never loses its funny even after repeat viewings. There are so many classic lines, I could have picked two dozen to be quoted above. Yes, I am serious.... and don't call me Shirley.

75. THE VILLAGE (M. Night Shyamalan, 2004)

"You are fearless in a way that I shall never know."

I'll probably get a lot of heat for this one. People think it's silly, confusing, pretentious. I think it's beautiful. Shyamalan's directing skill should never be in question, and his writing - while admittedly too dependent on twist endings - is still impressive. This is one of the few films that can both terrify me and make me truly feel for the characters. Bryce Dallas Howard is simply astounding.

All movies posted by trixster that were also in my list, I obviously like. But of all the other movies listed so far that weren't in mine, I like them too. Can't say I disagree with any of your choices.

All are entertaining or good movies.

74. HEAT (Michael Mann, 1995)

"I'm angry. I'm very angry, Ralph. You know, you can ball my wife if she wants you to. You can lounge around here on her sofa, in her ex-husband's dead-tech, post-modernistic bullshit house if you want to. But you do not get to watch my fucking television set!"

A film worthy of the first team-up of Pacino and de Niro. Even without the two great actors, even without the terrific shootout scene, even without the underrated climax, this would still be a terrific film because of the delving into the characters' lives, the story told, and the way it is told. Mann is one of the few modern auteurs, and he's on top form here. One of the few cases of the execution living up to the concept.

73. THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY (Sergio Leone, 1966)

"I like big fat men like you. When they fall they make more noise."

Yep, a classic. Even though I think it drags a bit in the middle, its status is undeniable. This is the reason why widescreen was invented. The three leads are terrific. The score is iconic. And, of course, the climax is one of the best scenes of all time, bar none. The only Western on my list, and of course it's the best.

72. THE PRINCESS BRIDE (Rob Reiner, 1987)

"You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous is never get involved in a land war in Asia, but only slightly less well-known is this: never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line!"

Probably the most chick flick-esque film on my list, even though I don't think there's anyone that doesn't enjoy this film. Could be one of the best screenplays ever written, if only for the amazing number of quotable lines. It's romantic, it's hilarious, it's entertaining, it's smart, and it's never boring.

71. REAR WINDOW (Alfred Hitchcock, 1954)

"People do a lot of things in private they couldn't possibly explain in public."

Incredibly tense and suspenseful thriller. The scene where Lisa gets caught in Thorwald's apartment is amazingly nerve-wracking. And, in addition to being a terrific thriller, it's quite a commentary on the movies and moviegoers. Hitchcock was a genius.

Great choice with Rear Window, it's amazing how much suspense that movie creates.
