Box? Does my list make me cool enough to join this club, makeshift I don't know... Have you ever pretended to have an exhaustive knowledge of French New Wave to impress someone of the opposite sex? Either way I'd say yes. Your bitterness over LOTR fans turning it into a circle jerk is reason enough.

I should admit, I've only sampled most of the great directors (i.e. seen only one Bergman, still no Antonioni; you can only imagine how I felt when they died two weeks ago ). However, what I lack there I (Almost) make up for in my knowledge of silent cinema. *Goes to add some Bergman/Malick/Lynch/Kubrick to queue*

WORLD OF KJ'S 100 GREATEST MOVIES: THE TOP 10!
Eh, not too bad of a list.... I really like the 1 point per vote criteria considering that means my #1 is #1! Boo yah! I had LOTR: ROTK at #3 so i can't be too unhappy even thought Gladiator was way up there! Anyways, really good job box, this was a huge undertaking. I can't wait for more of these events in the near future!!!!

Box? I'm sorry Makeshift, but I can't. I'll be starting school in less than a month, and all my free time will be down the tube then I'm far too flaky to guarantee success of such an enterprise. Who then? Who then can carry this torch? This burning flame of self importance and overflowing Netflix queues.

Re: WORLD OF KJ'S 100 GREATEST MOVIES: THE TOP 10!
K, haven't been here all day so here are some thoughts: - I ranked Speed #3, bitches. And I'm glad my list is so influential that I got things like Face/Off and Speed on it. Suck on that. - Children of Men is about 300-400 spots too high. - The Usual Suspects is too low. - Pan's Labyrinth at #43 is unbelievably ridiculous. It's good but c'mon. - Die Hard making it to #42 is most excellent. - Nice for Departed and Memento. - While it is still ranked incredibly too high, there is a God because Eternal Sunshine was in no way top twenty EVER material. - Fuck yes, Batman Begins at #25 and Aliens at #21. - AWESOME for Se7en. Thank youuuu. And T2! - Forrest Gump is wayyyy too high. - The Matrix. - You guys are the most gullible people on the planet. FvJ at #6 and you believed it? Hahahaha. And seriously, don't say "I knew it, I was just messing," I just read it. - Satisfied with ROTK as #1. - GREAT JOB, BOX. I think I'll post my top twenty for entertainment. Gimme a second.

i think it included to many overrated recent flicks for my taste but it covered the really good old films and skipped the overated ones unlike AFI.
nice to The Maltese Falcon and Seven samurai were somewhat close.

They ended up with the three biggie hitchcock's all in a row...talk about coincidences :o

Re: WORLD OF KJ'S 100 GREATEST MOVIES: THE TOP 10!
Top 20 (* = made the list):
1. The Matrix (*) 2. Face/Off (*) 3. Speed (*) 4. Die Hard (*) 5. Se7en (*) 6. The Departed (*) 7. Scream (*) 8. The Usual Suspects (*) 9. Aliens (*) 10. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (*) 11. Nightmare on Elm Street 12. Revenge of the Sith 13. Batman Begins (*) 14. King Kong (2005) (*) 15. Inside Man 16. Spider-Man 2 17. The 40-Year-Old Virgin 18. Minority Report (*) 19. Gladiator (*) 20. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (*)
Other than the top 10, the rankings were just kinda rough for me. I had trouble picking out the other 10, and not remembering the point system for the top 20, I just went with it. So no, Inside Man would not be that high on my top 100 (which I plan to work on shortly, because it's really changed a lot), but I figured it didn't matter how 15-20 were ranked (just looked it up, though, and I see there's a difference for 15 and 16, but it wouldn't have changed much I guess).
Question: How did Nightmare on Elm Street not make top 100? Where are all the horror fans?

Re: WORLD OF KJ'S 100 GREATEST MOVIES: COMPLETE!
i told you if you poll film buffs godfather always ends up in the top 5. wow those guys adore Kubrick and Hithcock.... Those two guys really changed my opinion on films. My list was like Zingalings at first but its much different. i like that list especially the Blade Runner inclusion... Mr. Smith Goes to Washington would have been nice to see as well. Maybe its just to old now and yes the film is boring at parts but really some parts are just so gripping.
