15. LA Confidential- 1997



Titanic really? God if that movie didn't make more money then the US economy that year, no way it would have ever won Best Picture. Not to say that Titanic wasn't good, in fact I'd say the best picture race for 1997 was one of the best with Good Will Hunting and As Good as it gets thrown into the mix as well. But LA Confidential getting snubbed was almost heartbreaking, almost as much as Spacey not even getting a nomination.

Awesome Film Noir film with excellent writing, directing and outstanding acting. Add into that one of the best surprise deaths of all time it leads to a very engaging film. The cast is just huge and everyone almost no role is left unexplored. The best film about cops ever made. Spacey and Pierce were just awesome together and russell Crowe wasn't too shabby either, though imagine Michael Madsen in the role written for him. I don't know if Kim Bassinger deserved supporting actress though, but she's also not great, and gorgeous to boot. I think this movie is just great and the end shootout is just awesome. Not many films top this in my opinion.

1982 was the best year for science fiction since 1968 (2001 + Planet of the Apes), and still remains the best. ET, The Thing and Blade Runner, not only in the same year but within a span of two weeks? Craziness. And all three are in my top 15.

What about 77 with SW and Close Encounters?

I don't consider Star Wars to be science fiction. It's fantasy in a typical sci-fi landscape. There's no hint of science in it at all.

Well Empire is a great movie, the rest I'm not a big fan of.

14. Memento- 2000



One movie I saw with almost my mouth open the whole time. Me and my friend had such a huge debate on this movie on this movie, with him claiming it to be nothing more than an ametuer school project. Needless to say I dont talk to that retard anymore. This movie is not just a film that has a brilliant editing ploy, where the entire film is shown in reverse. At the same time there are black and white scenes that are played in regular format and they both end up at the beginning of the film. We are literally thrown into the mind of someone with short term memory and are frustrated much like him as we try and unfold the ultimate puzzle of who killed the main character's wife.

The ending is easily top 2 twists ever, I never saw that coming from a mile away. Not only the ending feels like a major loss, you can't help but feel terrible at the same time for what the main character goes through. It's a sad ending on many levels and mindblower at the same time. Nolan is an awesome director and Pierce is an awesome actor, but I dont think either have made a more powerful and just kickass film than Memento.

13. One Flew Over the Cookoo's Nest- 1975



Awesome Awesome Awesome. Seeing the play many times and reading the book, everything about this movie is legendary to me. Great ensamble headed by Jack Nicholson, and a terrifying villain. This movie is just different from the book. Its almost as if the outtakes were the story and what was left was the actors just getting their roles to perfection. It deserved certainly every oscar it won and was just a superb film. Nicholson's career was truly a special won and I hope he doesnt slow down.

12. Braveheart- 1995



William Wallace kicked major ass. Forget whatever is wrong with Mel Gibson now, nothing stops the fact that he is a great director, but at the same time one of the best actors of the last 2 decades. This is how a middle age war film is suppose to be made. Except of course the fact that many fighters not in the main part of the fight are obviously pretending, its a near flawless film. Awesome action, great drama, and a truly powerful ending.

11. Rocky I,II,III,IV,VI- 1976-2006



These were the films of my childhood and today. Forget about Rocky V, its no longer a Rocky film. Rocky Balboa only shows that Rocky was and will always be a timeless character of determination and perserverance. It's a series of films that truly captured the spirit of filmmaking.

Rocky and Rocky II were perfect and in fact Rocky II is the strongest of the series in my opinion. It takes what was great about the first film and just improves on humor, training, and the fight is easily the best in the series with its awesome editing and great ending with Rocky becoming the champion. Rocky III and IV much like the 80s were cooler, faster, and stylishly made and executed with perfection, and despite going a little over the top at times, remained solid entires. Fast forward to 2006 and Rocky still is needed even in the years of HBO boxing. Throughout the years, awesome drama, great romance, epic fights and awesome villains, and can anyone else say some pretty shocking deaths with Mick, Apollo, and even Adrian. These were staples of American culture.

I agree completely on Memento. It's my #4 movie of all time, myself. And Nolan is my favorite current director.

It was my #3 about 20 minutes before I changed it to 13. I chickened out at the last minute

Well I tried to make it as non Genre specific as possible and not be biased. The way I figured it, its a favorite list, so if I liked a comedy more then some dramas or action films better, thats what I was basing it on. Also a lot of my top 25 had a impact on my life and specifically my path in a career.

What I mean is, you had Star Wars at #13, but then decided Cuckoo's was better, and just offed Star Wars from your top 100 list!
