#100: Blow-Up, UK/Italy 1966, Dir. Michelangelo Antonioni

Image

this is one of the best films ever made about the movies, because michelangelo antonioni recognizes celluloids fragile nature and the importance to preserve great images. the end is devastating and profoundly moving, because the director suggests that blow-up wont exist, or mean anything to anyone, if it doesnt continue to be seen. this wont be the only antonioni film on my list.

If you're just gonna do one film a day I don't think anyone will pay attention...

Yeah Joseba, if you're not going to be here to go through your list with at least a steady pace, I think it'd be better to do the 10 at a time technique that was used in the early pages of this thread.

I'm a pretty big fan of Conan. Think I had it in top 20 or so on my list.

Love the soundtrack even more though. RIP Basil Poledouris. :(

Jaaaaaaaaaaaa, Conan.
Conan being even better than Kalidor + Subotai jumping to his feet, running and fighting + Von Sydow/Antonius Block/King Osric + a snakesque James Earl Jones + The Tree of Woe + basically any other setting/scene/sequence + Poledouris' eargasm-inducing score + much more = fantasy greatness, easily pwning its cheap rip-off LOTR.

damn right, nebs and guybrushx. basil poledouris' conan score might be one of the greatest adventure movie scores ever. basils death shocked me as much as robert altmans.

And yes, Basil's Conan score is one of my favorite scores as well.
Apparently, Shore likes it as well.

Not to be a dick(well, ok, that's not entirely untrue), but I guess it'll be a fun 3 months of Joseba/Argos/Guybrush posts as this list is posted one by one.

You are free to comment on the listed films (just like Nebs did), instead of wasting your time and energy on writing negative remarks about how only a certain group of people can participate. For whatever reason.

It's just that there's a number of users here who want to post their lists, and nothing against yours, but since you're only on this site for like a minute a day, at this rate it will take months and it's a pain in the ass to wait, especially considering your list probably won't be that interesting to us anyways. I think that to... move this thread along, it'd be better to do the Name, (Director, Year) 10 movies at a time thing that Guybrush and etc. did early on in this thread, because otherwise this stalling is just going to make you look like a fucking prick for killing a rolling thread. Once again I'm just being honest with my asshole-ness, I think most of the people who have been following this thread for the last couple months won't be interesting in seeing your list if you post it this slow.

The alternative if you really do want to post your list one at a time, is the next person starting, and you'll be posting yours simaltaneously as we run through others' lists.

But whatever.

I think we should leave it up to Nebs - the unofficial moderator of this thread - to decide what to do. I agree with Shack to an extent; I have no problem with the movies that you're posting, Joseba, and I'm even interested to see your list, but if you're going to post it slowly, then it's going to kill this thread and all the interest that a lot of us have in it. Just something to consider.

Yes. The way I presented the list was very well received and should be an inspiring example to everyone.

Interesting choices so far, but please, please, please speed it up. I'd like to see what else you have to say.

Blow-Up is a great film... definitely one of my favorites. Great choice! KJ (well, an owner of KJ...) actually bought my copy of Blow-Up. A kind thank you to dolce (wherever she may be...) for picking it out for me...
