Wow. Sounds interesting. I plan to go into pre-med or genetics. Or epidemiology. Or...well I'm not sure.

I majored in Sociology for awhile, tillmost of my professors killed any interest I had in the field.

How can people run statistical analysis when the majored in sociology to avoid math.

Some aspects are. I don't particularly like studying the bueracracy. I'm more interested in political philosophy and political history.

So, here's the deal: I'm entering the second semester of my Sophomore year in high school. The quidance office is already calling down students to discuss their classes for next year, and I'm really starting to think about college. All last year, I just kept thinking "Hm....that sound sinteresting, but I don't know."

All of the things I like to do are either things that I don't want to do forever, or things that I would like to do, but I just don't have the will and motivation to do it (writing and any/all theater/directing work would go here). So I think of more practical things, and one field that interests me is psychology. But in case that just doesn't hold my interest once I graduate (everyone changes their major), so I'm thinking of some back-up things, and other things at which I am good. Math. I'm thinking that there's always jobs for...acountants, or....something. But then I think I could start a business, with accounting or tax or whatever.

I donno. I just needed a little rant. I thought this would help get thoughts in order, and it really didn't. ::shrugs::

Okay, this probably has no relevance to this thread, but I might as well take a shot at it...

I want to see a personal perspective from actual college students, who actually applied to a college, rather then reading something from the net.

Im a Sophomore, so I have a LONGGGGGGGGGGG way to go, and plus, I havent taken SAT's yet, but I took PSATS, and I got an average score....

Currently, my GPA is 3.67.

Im involved in ASB, JROTC, Marching Band, President of the Executive Club, and part of the Honors Society....

My dream school is Berkeley.....

What are my chances of getting in if I maintain this?

PLEASE DONT CALL ME STUPID! ](*,)

Accounting is a major in the business college, and actually doesn't involve that much math.

People tend to think of math as arthimetic and the algebra they learned in junior high.

People always assuem since i have my BSin math that I cna like add huge numbers in my head in an instant, as if that is what you do. And when I took algebra in college they would ask "Is thatlike what I took in grade 7/8/9/10?" Yeah, I went through 2 years of colelge math to take algebra like I did in 7th grade.

Anyway, I am ranting, my point is as an accoutning major you will take alot of business classes, so keep that in mind, its more about being very caerfula nd detailed about things. They are notusing formulas in more complex then you learn in calc I.

People really have no idea what people who study math do, but its far more vast then you think. Once you get past the calc sequence in college then you start to get an idea of what math is really about.
