I agree. Back in the best of the shows, the sentimentality that often closed each episode was honest, character-driven, and meaningful.

(But -- Hey! -- I still liked it, I laughed, I gave it 3 out of 5 for goodness sakes!)

I don't see where the raves are coming from. It's a good movie, and I'm as glad it didn't suck as everyone else, but there are hardly any belly-laughs, the supporting characters might as well not be in the movie and it still has too many of the crappy Family Guy-type jokes that have been plaguing the last several seasons. Still, there are so many jokes period that there was hardly a time I wasn't giggling, and I'm glad it was made.

If there's a sequel, they should call up Conan and kick out Maxtone-Graham and Scully.

A sequel will probably be much better. And my dream sequel would be directed by Brad Bird.

I'd love a sequel to bring back some characters from the school and of course Mr. Burns and the Power plant.

I'd love something as eventful as Who Shot Mr. Burns on the big screen. Another type of huge mystery would be awesome.

The movie was great, something I didn't expect even two weeks ago. It wasn't a masterpiece by any means, but it was more than I could have hoped for.

No way kick out Jean and Scully, Maxtone-Graham and Selman are the only good writers left.

Eh, I think we can all agree on getting Conan for the next one, though. He wrote some of the very best episodes in the series (Marge Vs. The Monorail, Homer Goes To College), though admittedly, his tenure was really brief.

Somewhat forgettable, but I think it's the most fun (along with Hairspray) I've had in theatres this year. The movie goes by really quickly, but it's overall satisfying, both in humor and story. [though, not completely satisfying]

A strong B+/A-, I hope it holds up on a 2nd viewing.

What about Greg Daniels then? Hell, even Larry Doyle.

If Brad Bird was given the job I would expect a Sideshow Bob or Krutsy the Clown-esque story about individualism and the terrony of society, can't go wrong with that.

The Thing about Conan and many of the earlier writers. Its not like they each wrote an episode entirely, it was a collective group that many ideas were used throughout, whoever came up with the stories usually got the credit for the episode, but Conan was supposedly a joke magnet like many of the others.

I mean David Silverman was arguably the best director of the show, he had a knack for how things should look on screen. 11 writers wrote the movie remember. Conan could help, but it would still be a highly collective film. Then again, when Conan returned in 2002 the ep he wrote wasn't that memorable if I remember correctly.

Brad Bird is a great director, but his tenure on The Simpsons was much too brief to be consider the best. He only directed 2 episodes

All this talk about Bird has more to do with The Iron Giant, The Incredibles and Ratatouille than with The Simpsons.

Not good but not really awful either. I'm not an active watcher of the show, though I do enjoy watching it once in awhile. I didn't think this was that funny and I only chuckled a few times. It seemed a lot longer than 85 minutes too. :p I couldn't wait for it to be over. Still, it was slightly entertaining at times and overall it was just alright.

Remember when crowds in The Simpsons used to have people you DIDN'T know? Characters that haven't shown up in the show before?

Im sorry, but Bumblebee Man doesnt have to be i every crowd, dressed like Bumblebee Man. (though somehow he isnt in this picture, oddly enough).

I think it's just another bad mark on The Simpsons creativity.

Mr. Burns had the best scenes in the film, it was very meh for me. I sort of laughed, otehr times i kind of smiled, but I jst recall things like Who Shot MOnty Burns that were a thousand times funny and more clever then this.

Homer has lost alot as a character for me.

its ok, I wouldn't reccommend to anyoen that the rush out and see it in the theater.

There was plenty of people in the crowd that were never seen before. No really new characters introduced apart from the villain, Tom Hanks, and Schwarzenegger, but there were many new ones out there.

I don't get it either. They are the SAME PERSON! Why isnt it Ranier Wolfcastle? Is Rainier even in the movie? Does he make an appearence for the sake of a joke?

He might be in a movie somewhere, but I haven't noticed him.
