hmm same spot as 300. Hoping to repeat same sucess of 300.

Don't forget there is some animated movie releasing that month from Blue Sky studios. Most of their CGI animated movies have crossed $100 million domestically so it might affect Watchmen.

The succuess of Simpsons may make Fox tempted to release Wolverine on July 25th next year. Which actually could work if TDK is pushed up to July 11th.

Too close Magnus. 2 weeks between comic book films, especially after 2 others have been released is too close.

I don't think its the best spot, but Fox may be tempted because of the succuess of Simpsons. Though I stand by my June 27th release date for Wolverine. If DH4/Rat/Transformers could all live together, then Wolverine/Wall-E/Hancock can do the same.

Here's how I feel summer 2008 should look from June 25th:

June 25th: Wolverine
June 27th: Wall-E
July 2nd: Hancock/Love Guru
July 11th: TDK
July 18th: Tropic Thunder/Mamma Mia
July 25th: Step Brothers. While Tropic Thunder will open a weke before it, we have seen with C&L/Simpsons that two comedies can in fact co-exist with each other
August 1st: Mummy 3
August 8th: Valkeryie/Pineapple Express
August 15th: Fame/Hellboy 2

Basically, put Wolverine at June 25th, move Love Guru to July 2nd, move TDK to Jule 11th, move Tropic Thunder to July 18th, and move HB2 to August 15th.

Wolverine and TDK would be 17 days apart from each other. That's plenty of time of seperation considring Wolverine will be extremely frontloaded.

I totally agree about all those from July 2nd onwards...

HBII has to move out of the summer - even October would be good for it. Love Guru Vs Hancock is also good. Step Brothers could be couple with another film - probably a drama or thriller.

Now Wolverine Vs Wall-E - this will be an interesting battle. Not sure if the studios would be game enough but possibly seeing its Fox (5day) vs Disney (3day) just like 07.

Only question is whether a 12 day gap back to The Hulk is enough.

I agree HB2 should move. I just assume that Universal wants to keep it in summer.

Wolverine vs. Wall-E I think will work. Wolverine will be really frontloaded, and will burn off on the first two days, plus its a pretty different demograph than Wall-E.

12-day gap between Hulk is fine considring Hulk probably won't do more than 135m+.

I think the gaps are fine. Im more concerned about the perception that their are too many comic book films. The good thing is the fans will come - but whether as big as a general audience as could have been will materialise.

Im actually having alot more faith in Iron Man after seeing the preview.

I'd put their grosses as such (if they come out as per your release dates)

Iron Man - $160-$180m
The Hulk - $110-$120m
Wolverine - $170-$190m
The Dark Knight - $260-$290m

Agree with completely except for TDK. TDK I think is a lock for 275m and can do 315m.

But I defintley see TDK being biggest, Wolverine/Iron Man fighting for no. 2, and Hulk way behind.

$275m is what ive been saying for a while too. At worst i think it will be $260m but $275-$315m is the area it will be in. Strong weekdays should help it. I guess it will then depend on how well its received.

Im thinking its a straight fight between Indy, TDK and Narnia - with Wall-E the outside chance. It definitely wont be as clear cut as the May three in 07. But the safest bet would have to be TDK at this stage. Indy has more potential but is more of an unkown. Its also yet to be determined what impact the summer move will have on Narnia and Wall-E is a complete unkown. It could go anywhere from $160m to $360m.

Just noticed that Robots have seemed to make a big come back in the 2nd half of the decade. In 2005 both I, Robot and Robots made over $100m. Then Transformers exploded with $300m this year. Then next year we'll have Iron Man and Wall-E both expecting huge numbers. No dount another Transformers will come too.

Interesting. Too many big movies coming in march 2008.

10,000 BC
Horton Hears a who
Superhero movie

I know u will say spoof movies suck but it is a superhero spoof movie and if they spoof spider-man, batman, superman, x-men and fantastic four then I am sure it will make some kind of money at boxoffice.

Don't care about Fools Gold and Prom Night.

10,000 BC looks interesting but should have been at comic con. I don't it to do much more than $120 million domestically.

Horton could become huge due to the fact that after Bee movie and Beowulf there are no big animated movies up until Horton Hears a Who. So families could go in big numbers to watch that movie.

It was at Comic Con, but all they showed was the same trailer that has been out there.

I'm not exactly sure what the story was with why they chose to profile ONE MISSED CALL over 10,000 B.C. other than MISSED CALL is locked and 10,000 B.C. just had its first test screening a few weeks ago. I'm guessing that they just don't have anything fx set piece ready on 10,000 B.C. besides what is in the trailer and no buzz is better than bad buzz on something as costly as 10KBC, but any buzz on MISSED CALL is worth the risk with the low budget.

Also think it's weird I AM LEGEND and HANCOCK were passed over, but if you don't have Will Smith in person to overcome the certain contingent of fanboys who believe he destroys films like I, ROBOT, I can see why they passed, since he is legitimately knee deep in HANCOCK production. The fanboys were putty for The Rock on the Get Smart panel.

Maybe January 25 is just the wide date and it's going to have a brief Oscar-qualifying run at the end of this year.

When will The Day the Earth Stood Still get officially cancelled? The production was stalled and there is no cast/director/whatever.

Well, at least Charlie Bartlett has a real release date now. Some of the early hype has me very intrigued in it.

To be honest, with the kind of weird buzz the Cloverfield project is picking up, I'd be a bit wary of putting a movie out on the same day, even if it is just being dumped in the January wasteland. But the thing is, it's still so far away that if the buzz proves to be nothing more than a fluke, a studio could still position a project against it. Still, I have a feeling it will be the rarest of rare things at the box office: A $100 million hit in January.

I'm actually disappointed with this. I was kinda sorta looking forward to this. The move means it's not good enough to get awards buzz.
