Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - 12,811 (3,028), 2,836 Friday, B+
Captivity 219 (49), +23 (+56), C-
Potter should have a slightly lower ratio today and I'd say it's heading for $24-25M. Captivity is looking at $1M.

If FM's numbers are accurate, Captivity's ratio was somewhere between 575 and 600!

So you pay $8 to see her naked for a few minutes. I can order a PPV at the Holiday Inn and see a heck of a lot more.

Chuck and Larry should have a ratio of 100. I have no idea about Hairspray, though. 150?

I'm thinking 120 for Chuck and Larry given its subject is more controversial than a usual Sandler's comedy. Female-targeted movies tend to have high ratios unless it's exclusively aimed at the older crowd. I'd give Hairspray 250.

That is very poor for Chuck and Larry for it to be getting beat 2 to 1 by Hairspray isn't a great sign. Of course I guess it could pick up in the evening hours.

Steve Mason said both movies are tracking better among women under 25 so...
they will pick Hairspray over C&L so you can put a fork in the movie

So what are the chances of Hairspray pulling an upset and beating Chuck & Larry? I could see a combination of both Hairspray getting high 20s and C&L doing less than 30 million

I'm thinking Chuck and Larry will get a ratio of 150, especially if the grade falls down even more.

To get a $10+ mil OD... C/L needs about 1000-1200+ reviews.
Hairspray will need an UNGODLY 2000+ reviews to even get around $9 mil OD.

Minimum of $6m for Hairspray, and Chuck & Larry may have trouble getting to $10m. Will see the afternoon pace.

Xia, what kind of IM should we expect for Hairspray?

I'm thinking The Devil Wears Prada except for a bigger Sunday drop without the holiday, so 2.75-2.8?

Sandler movies don't exactly have 3.0 IM. TLY had a multiplier of 2.94 but that movie came out in May when schools are still in session. Click would be a better example, it came out near the end of June and had a 2.77 IM. I'd expect around the same or maybe even less so it would need at least a 14.5 Friday. That would mean at least 1750 reviews. It would need a big increase this evening which is certainly possible given the Sandler demographic.

If it disapoints I would say it was the unfunny commericials. The best thing I saw about them was Jessica Biel in her underwear and I wouldn't go to a movie to see that.
