Take a look at this.....Transformers is doing bloody fantastic in New Zealand

1 1 Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix WB $659,190 -61.1% 89 - $7,407 $3,224,603 2
2 2 Transformers PPI $328,206 -48.1% 89 - $3,688 $4,785,238 4
3 N Knocked Up PPI $294,331 - 46 - $6,399 $294,331 1
4 14 Amazing Grace Rialto $231,475 +1,491.7% 69 +60 $3,355 $306,027 1
5 3 Shrek the Third PPI $82,156 -74.0% 93 - $883 $5,500,288 7

It just passed At World's End this week and looks like it'll fight it out with Shrek 3 for the yearly crown. HP5 may still be in the mixed, though with school holidays finished, I don't think it'll be able to pass $5.5m here.

Transformers had the best drop out of the bigger movies. To beat Shrek 3, it needs to start dropping in the 30-40% range....Shrek 3 had the advantage of school holidays....Transformers has already experienced that.

On that basis, I would say that Transformers would just fall short of topping Shrek 3, afterall, Simpsons and co arrive next week......so yeah, looks like both movies will be in the $5.5-6m. range...which is huge..

Is there a website for New Zealand box office or are these numbers taken from Screen Daily?

I got these from BOM, though you can also get them from ScreenDaily...

Transformers is doing compartively better (ranking wise) in New Zealand than in Australia..... :shades: , Transformers won't be topping Pirates 3, HP5 and Shrek 3 in Australia....but should beat Pirates 3 and HP5 in New Zealand :shades:

You're not wrong, Nazgul9 must be confused with his prediction for HP5 in Japan or something.... ;)

Just want to keep my expectations low. 100m is definitely possible, though you never know with Japan, HP just openend there for instance...

Btw, my prediction before the movie came out was DOM 300m/ OS 400m. I think i won't be far off... *pats myself on the back* :)

It still hurts. What did it gross, 25m or something like that? Pathetic, expected at least twice that... :(

If that happens to Transformers, I'll call on the Dinobots to turn Japan into Dinobot Island...

This is the Australian Top 5 in USD$.....Fantasic hold for both Transformers and Knocked Up. TF thunders pass $20m, but was surpassed by Potter.

Potter looks like it'll be able to take out Shrek 3 which has slowed down considerably after the school holidays... Shrek 3 should finish with about $30.5m....and Potter looks good for at least $30m.....unless it gets hit badly next week by Simpsons.....it's built up such a great lead though.

TAIPEI (TWD) - Weekend 4

Magnificent drop against Potter's 2nd weekend and the solid opening of Die Hard 4. This is Transformers 2nd best drop to date and makes up for last week's 55% drop against Potter's opening. Transformers just surpassed HP4 this week and is tracking as the strongest performer since ROTK, that's saying alot.

More importantly, Transformers has surpassed Pirates 3 to become this year's largest grosser....it's hard to see anything with enough firepower to match it.

Transformers is a couple thousands away from surpassing Armageddon as Bay's largest pic ever in Taipei....that movie finished with 157,862,070.

HP4 grossed another 10m TWD from this point......though Transformers to me looks the stronger out of the two. Depending on how in the upcoming weeks against Ratatouille and Bourne Ultimatum......it may well surpass The Day After Tomorrow's 181,388,280 and Independence Day's 187,755,640 TWD. ROTK's 200,046,545 TWD is probably out of reach.

Lord Of The Rings: ROTK - 165,356,980 (6,334,780, -44.5%) - 20
Transformers - 157,132,089 (7,687,179, -35.1%) - 18
Harry Potter 4: GOF - 155,773,640 (8,577,630, -51.4%) - 20
Harry Potter 2: COS - 147,676,980 (9,194,020, -44.5%) - 19
The Day After Tomorrow - 147,342,935 (8,193,075, -49.8%) - 17
Pirates Of The Caribbean 3: At World’s End - 142,028,328 (3,456,993, -64.2%) - 19
Kung Fu Hustle - 140,949,250 (3,844,520, -53.3%) - 19
Lord Of The Rings: TTT - 140,729,625 (5,244,530, -52.3%) - 17
Pirates Of The Caribbean 2: Dead Man’s Chest - 139,585,080 (4,500,533, -51.1%) - 19
The Da Vinci Code - 132,664,117 (3,688,123, -56%) - 20
Spiderman 2 - 128,662,410 (3,033,130, -60.3%) - 19
Spiderman 3 - 120,990,465 (2,817,455, -70.1%) - 17
Mr. And Mrs. Smith - 120,354,595 (3,570,275, -58.2%) - 17
Harry Potter 3: POA - 118,211,800 (6,387,330, -34%) - 21
War Of The Worlds - 110,153,675 (1,579,240, -48.8%) - 19
King Kong - 109,793,825 (3,013,310, -58.1%) - 19
Mission Impossible 3 - 107,942,435 (3,642,000, -49.6%)

AUSTRALIA (AUD$) - Weekend 4

Brillaint hold, looks like it'll easily blow past $27m, and $30m is still possible. It's definately looking at at least AUD$28m.

Shrek 2 - $42,263,132 ($4,257,541, -20%)

We need to see UK and Japan to know.....at the momment, i'm more for the lower end....though if it passed $50m+ in the UK and $100m+ in Japan then I'll see $450m is achievable.

DreamWorks/Paramount's Transformers opens in six territories including France and Hong Kong on Jul 25 and the UK on Jul 27.

The action blockbuster has made a sizeable dent overseas and this weekend's launches should considerably raise the $206.3m international running total.

Latest figures put Shrek The Third on $390.1m and Blades Of Glory, which opens in Italy on Jul 27, on $25.7m.

Universal/UPI has four comedies in play. Evan Almighty opens in South Korea on Jul 26 and has grossed $4.7m from the early stages of release, while last weekend's number one North American film I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry opens in Taiwan on Jul 28.

Knocked Up has taken $9.9m so far and opens in Russia and Singapore on Jul 26, while Mr Bean's Holiday opens in China on Jul 27 and stands at $177.6m. Thriller White Noise 2: The Lights launches in Brazil on Jul 27.

==========

Got a very bad feeling it'll be overwhelemed by Simpsons on the UK....why on earth won't they move...stupid
