I can honestly see a 65m OW for Mummy 3 with the right marketing.

Yep it has potential but u gotta remember that mummy 2 left bad taste in a lot of peoples mouth. I loved it though.

hahahaha awesome. They switched the release dates.

HB II will be a good movie but will not make back its budget. For the first time hollywood has made a sequel to a movie that flopped at BO. Maybe Universal thinks HB II will be really kick ass or awesome and could get a good OW and make $100+ million domestically. Seriously TDK will destory it. My only concern now is that there will be 3 superhero or comic book movies back to back.

John Hancock
HB II
TDK

Dont forget Wolverine if it does come out during summer. Most likely it will considering the Day the Earth Stood still is still in development hell and Starship DAve looks like it will be Pluto Nash

Mummy will disappoint. I cant see it doing all too well really. You know they jumped the shark when they start dabbling with egyptian folk lore blending it with asianic climate.

As long as it offers good popcorn fun as the previous two did, I think it won't.

Kung-fu in a Safari adventure movie. They arent even in Mummy territory now. It will be like having a Batman movie taking place in New York City.

But wheres the Mummy? I dont recall China ever mummifying their emperor. Im just saying the concept would look sort of ridiculous. As far as a popcorn adventure flick, Indy would probably provide them with a full summer worth of adventuring rush. Its too bad the concept of Jackie Chan and Jet Li beating the crap out of each other turned into some lame kids movie. It had so much potential

That is why i was saying that starship dave should be moved to december same spot as NATM if they want to do atleast 200 million worldwide.

TDTESS is nowhere to be seen. No teaser poster, no comic con info since fox pulled off, no casting infos nothing. We haven't heard about it aside from the fact that Scott Denriksen will direct it.

Ya i don't think the movie is coming in may. If it does release that day i will be shocked. But i am prettu sure it won't come out in May.

If wolverine takes TDTESS spot then Marvel will be pissed since IRON MAN comes out a week before. They already have very sketchy relations with fox and this would make matters worse. But considering fox loves to piss everyone off and it is run by Tom Rothman a very arrogant person and son of devil. I can see him making a master plan to cut into IM boxoffice so that Marvel's 1st attempt of making a movie is unsuccessful.

Is it animated movie??

If yes then that sucks.

If it is a PG-13 movie then i am ok with that.

Well Rothman does hate gigantic robots and considering that Iron Man has him fighting giant robot, you should expect him to put Wolverine 2 weeks after that as revenge. The way I see it now is that they put Wolverine and X-files 2 as their two tent pole movies. If Simpsons does very well, it may restore a little faith in Fox to try to give X-files another chance and make it like its their new Star Trek movie with maybe people missing the show alot

Well IRON MAN is not fighting any giant robot. He might fight with a taller and bigger robot (IRON MONGER) but not GIANT robot like sentinel, galactus type size, transformer.

hehe yeah and the whole 888 thing.

With Mummy 3, Valkyrie and Pineapple Express - August can be strong - it just needs to be scheduled well. Infact the whole summer needs to be rescheduled.

TDK to the Pirates spot one week earlier, The Love Guru to move away from Get Smart and perhaps Iron Man to make way for Wolverine.

Who really cares if its a Chinese mummy? It didn't make sense that The Rock was the Scorpiomn King, but no one really cared about that. I mean, if this was not a proven franchise, I would defintltey say that yes, this movie would dissapoint/flop.

But let's keep in mind how big the Mummy movies were, and still are. I mean, those damn movies are shown on TNT/TBS/USA all the damn time. It has a really big fanbase I think, big enough to get it to a 60m+ OW as long as the marketing is good.

And hate to say this Roid, but X-Files isn't going to be a summer tentpole most likley.

So what you are saying the film will be MINO(Mummy in name only)? And Rock was just a side villian whereas Arnold Voosloo is returning. As for X-files, it doesnt have to make 100 million to be considered a tentpole but seeing as Fox has really no other big summer movies on schedule except for Wolverine, it will be one of its 3 featured films during that season. You dont like think Starship Dave will make more than X-files 2 do you?

no IRON MAN will stick to that release date.

Fox should release wolverine the weekend of STARSHIP DAVE.

Norbit made 95m. That's all I'm saying.

Plus, I think The Happening has a shot at 100m+, if it can get some good marketing and good WOM.

And I still think TDESS is still coming May 2008.

Starship Dave also can go the way of Pluto Nash. Did you look at the plot and concept of the film? Sounds exactly like Earth Girls are Easy. As for The Happening, M Nights name is damaged good but who knows if he can turn it around. I know the curse of The Village and Lady in the Water still lingers on but its a gamble even with Mark Walberg

Starship Dave - the name alone indicates stink bomb.

The Happening can make $100m if its good - even with a lower tier MNS opening.

The big problem for the summer is that their are FIVE comic book films coming out and really there is no room for them all.

TDK and Iron Man should remain. Wolverine and The Hulk should have waited for 09.

I would say IRON MAN, THE INCREDIBLE HULK and THE DARK NIGHT should remain in 2008.

HB II and WOLVERINE should be delayed till 2009.

The problem is FOX needs Wolverine because they need at least 1 150 million hit in 08 with the exception of Horton Hears a Hoot whatever that Carrey/Still movie's name is. The Happening is quite a gamble even with Fox's marketting. I cant emphasize how many times I have to say that M.Nights name is soiled and The DAy the EArth Stood Still has no cast announced so Im doubtful it will be released in summer considering they told the working crew to pack up their bags

I think the release schedule is now fine. Mama Mia needs to move to July 2nd. Wolverine needs to go in August.

May already has Iron Masn, which will do 150 million +, June has the Incredible Hulk, which should be high profile, and July has the Dark knight which should be the years biggest opener.

Hrllboy 2 will be a collosal dud-sub 50 million total. The Happening will do very well...mnight is brilliant; and he has to know he cant fuck this up.

With Jet Li starring as the new mummy in "Tomb of the Dragon Emperor," the studio might want to tie the movie in more with the Beijing 2008 Olympics, taking place August 8 - 24. Li was born in Beijing.

So i think this was a very smart move. They are probably going to show a trailer or something during the olympic games.

I can confirm, the Summer Olympics is exactly why Universal moved Mummy 3 they will
be doing huge cross promotions via NBC (NBC Universal synergy) and in China to coincide
with the global push.

Universal coordinated with New Line on the Journey 3D move.

For the curious, yes, I was hinting about the Journey 3D/Mummy 3/Hellboy shuffling. :)

Good call.

When is Journey 3D set for now? Personally I think it should move to December.

Is it kind of racist and insensative at the same time to be promoting a movie and tie it in with the Olympics in China just because one of the stars is a countrymen there?

Probably more because the film is set in China more than anything. Still I cant see Mummy 3 replicating the previous film's BO. Im thinking $160m max.

No it is not. It is a smart strategy.

Only time will tell if it works.
